StraighterLine’s Early Childhood Education division supports educators nationwide through learning management systems, certification platforms, and workforce registries. Some of our platforms are funded and shaped in partnership with state agencies and other public-sector clients.
We are seeking a Business Analyst who can independently manage systems and software initiatives, translate business needs into clear requirements, and drive implementation as part of an agile delivery team.
This is a client-facing role. You will work directly with external government (B2G) stakeholders who fund and influence portions of our software development, while also partnering closely with internal teams across Engineering, QA, Product, and Operations.
The ideal candidate combines strong analytical skills, structured documentation, stakeholder management, and the ability to balance external client needs with internal technical realities.
What You’ll Do
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned external government clients
Facilitate requirement-gathering sessions with client stakeholders
Translate contractual, regulatory, and operational needs into actionable system requirements
Communicate delivery status, scope changes, and tradeoffs clearly and professionally
Balance client expectations with technical feasibility and team capacity
Product Responsibilities within Scrum Team
Serve as the requirements owner for a dedicated Scrum team
Prioritize backlog items in alignment with stakeholder needs and funding commitments
Participate actively in sprint planning, refinement, reviews, and retrospectives
Ensure completed work meets business intent and acceptance criteria
Requirements & Systems Analysis
Review, analyze, and evaluate business needs to define scope and objectives
Produce detailed workflows and specifications
Maintain organized documentation in Agile tooling environments (e.g., Jira, Confluence)Serve as liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams
Independently resolve routine issues and escalate higher-risk concerns appropriately
Delivery & Continuous Improvement
Support QA and user acceptance testing
Identify process improvements that enhance clarity and delivery predictability
Contribute to reporting and data-informed decision-making
Proactively identify risks, ambiguities, and dependency conflicts
What You’ll Bring
Required
4–7 years of experience in business analysis, systems analysis, or technical product management
Experience working on moderately complex software initiatives
Strong requirements documentation and backlog management skills
Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
Experience interacting directly with external clients or stakeholders
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level communication
Ability to manage competing priorities across internal teams and external clients
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Nice to Have
Experience formally serving as a Product Owner or Scrum Master in an agile environment
Professional certification in Agile or Scrum
Experience in government (B2G) or public-sector technology projects
Exposure to LMS, EdTech, workforce registry, or compliance-driven systems
Familiarity with SaaS or cloud-based platforms
SQL or reporting familiarity
Experience collaborating with offshore engineering teams
