Structural Integrity Associates

Provides engineering and consulting services for asset lifecycle management in energy, process, and critical infrastructure.

About Structural Integrity Associates

Founded in 1983, we provide engineering and consulting services to identify, analyze, and prevent engineering failures. Our goal is to help clients maximize equipment life, ensure plant and equipment reliability, and avoid unplanned business interruptions in critical infrastructure.

We offer integrated services including:

  • Inspection & Monitoring: This involves Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) using technologies like linear and annular phased array UT, TOFD, and Guided Wave. We also develop customized tooling and employ technicians certified to ASNT and other standards.
  • Materials Evaluations & Testing: We use field and laboratory methods to identify damage causes, implement mitigation, and ensure long-term integrity, supported by our Austin, TX Materials Sciences Center.
  • Analysis & Planning: We use Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for stress, fracture mechanics, residual stress, dynamic/non-linear, and computational fluid dynamics analyses. We apply both verified commercial and in-house developed software tools. All our work adheres to industry codes and standards like ASME, ASTM, ASNT, and API, and is performed under documented Quality Assurance programs.

Our expertise covers ASME Code Evaluations, Asset/Life Cycle Management, Fatigue Damage & Life Assessment, Root Cause Failure Analysis, and Nondestructive Examination. We also perform various analyses for pipeline, nuclear, fossil power, hydroelectric, wind, and concentrated solar infrastructure. This includes specialized work in turbomachinery thermo-fluids, structural design/analysis for earthquake engineering, and cybersecurity program management. Through our Integrity Specialists business unit, we provide pipeline integrity and NDT inspection services and support Management of Aging Piping (MAP) Programs.

We serve the energy and process industries, as well as critical infrastructure sectors like bridges, tunnels, hospitals, healthcare facilities, dams, and waterways. We operate from multiple offices across the U.S., including our corporate headquarters in Charlotte, NC, and have international affiliates.
