Expansion Investment Manager

Job Description

Description

The Investment Manager at Tether holds end-to-end accountability for investment execution related to the Tether expansion team. This role operates at the intersection of Tether’s strategic investment agenda and the venture ecosystem, leading strategic expansion investment transactions from origination through close. The Investment Manager anchors the due diligence process, prepares and presents to the VP of Global Expansion and the Investment Committee (IC), and drives post-investment monitoring and value creation across the portfolio.

Responsibilities:

  • Deal Execution and Transaction Management: Lead the full lifecycle of investment transactions from term sheet through close, coordinating legal, financial, and strategic workstreams with internal teams and external advisors. Structure and negotiate deal terms ensuring alignment with RISE fund’s risk appetite and return thresholds.

  • Due Diligence: Design and drive the end-to-end due diligence process across commercial, financial, legal, and regulatory dimensions. Synthesize diligence findings into investment-grade analysis, stress-testing key assumptions, identifying material risks, and articulating mitigation strategies.

  • Investment Committee Preparation and Governance: Author and own Investment Committee memoranda, present investment recommendations directly to senior leadership, and maintain rigorous documentation standards across all Venture IC materials.

  • Portfolio Management and Value Creation: Serve as the primary relationship owner for assigned portfolio companies post-close, support Reporting Team with monitoring of financial and operational KPIs, and lead or contribute to follow-on investment assessments.

  • RISE Fund Platform Development: Drive the build-out and continuous improvement of Tether RISE fund’s Investment operating infrastructure, coordinate with the Expansion Team to improve Tether RISE fund’s strategy, and represent Tether RISE fund’s function in internal forums.

The Investment Manager also contributes directly to the maturation of the RISE fund platform—its processes, governance frameworks, and institutional positioning. This role involves mentoring junior team members and supporting talent development within the investment team.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (minimum) in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a closely related discipline. A Master’s degree (MBA, MSc Finance, or equivalent) is strongly preferred.

  • Professional Certification: CFA charterholder or CAIA designation required (or demonstrable progression toward completion).

  • Experience: 5-8 years of directly relevant experience across venture capital, private equity, investment banking, or corporate development.

  • Technical and Analytical Skills: Advanced financial modelling; strong command of Excel and PowerPoint; working knowledge of cap table management tools (e.g. Carta), CRM/deal flow platforms (e.g. Affinity, Salesforce), and data room management.

  • Communication Skills: Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to effectively communicate findings and recommendations to senior management and investment committees.

  • Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of venture and growth-stage investment dynamics. Knowledge of the financial services sector including regulatory frameworks, fintech ecosystems, and institutional investment constraints.

  • Language: Full professional proficiency in English (written and verbal) is required. Any other language is a plus.
