Universal Quantum

Founded in 2018, we build utility-scale quantum computers using trapped ion technology. We’ve made breakthroughs, such as connecting quantum modules with near-perfect fidelity using our UQConnect technology. We are currently producing next-generation devices for clients, including the German Aerospace Centre (DLR). We have a center in the UK and additional sites in Germany and the USA. Our founders, Sebastian Weidt and Winfried Hensinger, published a blueprint for a large-scale trapped ion quantum computer in 2017.

Our mission is to build useful quantum computers that work reliably at scale, to help humanity solve complex challenges. We focus on developing technology that can revolutionize areas like drug design, climate modeling, and battery chemistry. We take a practical, engineering-based approach to build useful devices.
