Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
As Associate Finance Business Partner, you will support the Finance Lead and wider business with financial planning, reporting, and management to ensure accurate financial information and processes are maintained. This is a 12-month fixed-term role focused on supporting the effective transfer and finalisation of financial reporting responsibilities for UniServices business units that have transitioned to new entities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Partnering with business units to provide financial insights and actionable recommendations.
- Assisting with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Preparing monthly management reports and commentary for decision-making.
- Maintaining accurate financial records and reconciling accounts.
- Supporting compliance with internal controls, financial policies, and audit requirements.
- Building strong relationships with University of Auckland shared services and finance teams.
- Identifying opportunities to streamline reporting and analysis processes.
- Contributing to dashboards and tools for improved financial visibility.

This is a 12-Month Fixed-Term, full-time role (40 hours per week, Monday to Friday) with a salary range of $96,000-$104,000 per annum plus Incentives and benefits, depending on experience.

You are a proactive and detail-oriented finance professional who can translate data into meaningful insights and build strong relationships across teams. You thrive in a collaborative environment and have a strong foundation in financial analysis and reporting.
What you’ll bring:
- A tertiary qualification in Finance, Commerce, Accounting, Economics, or Business.
- Working towards or completion of a professional accounting qualification (CA, CPA, or CIMA).
- 2–3 years’ experience in finance or accounting, ideally in budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting.
- Strong Excel skills, including modelling and data analysis.
- Experience with Workday Adaptive is an advantage.
- Commercial acumen and ability to interpret financial data effectively.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to prioritise work to meet deadlines.
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills
