Job Description
The Opportunity:
We are seeking versatile, curious, and energetic Software Engineers to join our Security Development team, a group at the forefront of providing solutions to cyber-attacks, vulnerabilities, and security findings. As a Visa Software Engineer, you will be an integral part of a multi-functional development team that invents, designs, builds, and tests software products for a global customer base, embracing and solving complex challenges on a worldwide scale.
In this role, you will be instrumental in safeguarding digital systems by identifying weaknesses and developing effective solutions to address them. Your responsibilities will include the design, development, testing, and implementation of technologies to meet the organization’s cybersecurity needs. You will contribute to all architectural levels, from providing engineering designs for new software solutions that mitigate security vulnerabilities to troubleshooting and debugging issues as they arise. Your efforts will be key to building components of powerful payment technology and shaping the future of digital monetary transactions. This involves creating and maintaining security for the organization by incorporating the appropriate security analysis throughout the development lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain secure code: Take ownership of designing, coding, testing, and maintaining software that provides solutions to cyber-attacks, vulnerabilities, and security findings.
- Implement and test security measures: Implement, test, and operate advanced software security techniques.
- Analyze and address security vulnerabilities: Analyze requirements and security findings to evaluate different coding options and participate in scoping and sizing activities.
- Collaborate on security strategy: Communicate and collaborate effectively with internal teams and external team partners to ensure a robust security posture.
- Drive security innovation: Participate in technology proof-of-concepts, with a focus on emerging security technologies and frameworks to stay ahead of the curve.
- Cross-functional partnership: Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Delivery, DevOps, Security, Automation, and Support teams to ensure security is integrated across all initiatives and throughout the development lifecycle.
This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in the office will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- 2+ years of relevant work experience and a Bachelors degree, OR 5+ years of relevant work experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (required).
- Java: Strong fundamentals in Java and Spring Boot, including JPA, controllers, and validation.
- Python: Basic knowledge of Python with experience in FastAPI or Flask, virtual environments, and packaging.
- Generative AI: Familiarity with prompt design, calling LLM APIs, managing tokens and rate limits, and implementing basic guardrails.
- Containerization: Understanding of Docker fundamentals and concepts related to Kubernetes/OpenShift.
- Version Control & CI/CD: Proficiency in Git, continuous integration basics, and testing frameworks (JUnit/Mockito, pytest).
- Frontend: Working knowledge of Angular sufficient to extend existing components.
- Databases: Strong SQL skills and solid understanding of RDBMS concepts.
- Operating Systems: Fundamental knowledge of UNIX and shell scripting.
- Cloud Platforms: Practical experience with cloud computing platforms (preferred).
- Domain Expertise: Experience in the financial or payment industry (a plus).
- Methodologies: Familiarity with Agile practices (a plus).
