Job description
As an experienced Business Analyst within the Digital team, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality web and mobile applications for cinema customers globally. Work closely with customers and internal teams to define, align, and drive requirements through to delivery, ensuring solutions are practical, buildable, and meet real business needs.
There currently 2 opportunities in the team; one Intermediate BA and one Senior BA. Both roles are delivery-focused. You will operate at the intersection of customers, Product, Engineering, and QA, bringing clarity to requirements, supporting delivery teams through build and test, and actively helping resolve issues as they arise. You are structured, detail-oriented, and pragmatic, with a strong bias for action and outcomes.
Reporting to the Director of Digital Delivery, you will work closely with Product Owners, Project Managers (internal and external), Designers, Engineering Managers, QA (internal and external), and client stakeholders to enable predictable delivery and high-quality releases.
This role suits someone who thrives in complex environments, is comfortable working across multiple initiatives, and takes pride in bringing clarity to ambiguity.
About the role
You will be responsible for eliciting, analysing, and documenting business and technical requirements across customer-facing websites and mobile apps, ensuring alignment with customer expectations, platform capabilities, and delivery constraints.
You will also support delivery through build, test, and release by working closely with QA teams to clarify intent, resolve ambiguities, and help triage defects. This role suits someone who thrives in complex environments, is comfortable juggling multiple initiatives, and takes ownership from discovery through to delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead requirements discovery through workshops, interviews, and analysis with cinema customers and internal teams
- Produce clear, structured, and testable artefacts including user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, and functional specifications
- Ensure requirements are complete, prioritised, and ready for development before work is committed
- Act as a bridge between customers, Product, and Engineering to ensure shared understanding and intent
- Support Product Owners with backlog refinement, scope definition, and prioritisation
- Work closely with internal and external QA teams to ensure acceptance criteria are testable and understood
- Support delivery by helping triage bugs, clarify expected behaviour, and problem-solve issues during testing
- Identify gaps, risks, dependencies, and assumptions early and surface them clearly to delivery leadership
- Support customer conversations to validate scope, clarify expectations, and align on outcomes
- Contribute to continuous improvement of BA and delivery practices across the Digital team
What success looks like
Engineers receive clear, implementation-ready stories with minimal rework
Customers are confident that requirements reflect their real business needs
Web and mobile deliveries move forward with momentum, not blockage
Issues and defects are clarified and resolved quickly during test phases
Fewer delivery surprises due to clear scope, assumptions, and constraints
Strong collaboration across Product, Delivery, Engineering, and QA
Proven experience as an intermediate or senior level Business Analyst in digital product or platform delivery, ideally web and mobile
Demonstrated ability to define clear requirements including user stories and acceptance criteria
Experience working closely with Product, Engineering, QA, and Delivery teams
Strong experience working in Agile environments using Scrum and or Kanban
Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
Comfortable working directly with customers to gather, align, and validate requirements
Confident supporting delivery through build and test, not just upfront discovery
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to explain complex concepts clearly
Highly organised, detail-oriented, with a structured, analytical approach, and outcome-focused
Comfortable working across multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
Strong working knowledge of Jira and Wrike, with experience using collaboration and modelling tools such as Miro, draw.io, Lucidchart, and Confluence to document and communicate requirements
This is a hybrid role with a home and office-based split, requiring regular weekly (2 days per week) attendance in the Cape Town office.
We are only considering applicants with an existing right to work in South Africa, without the need for employer sponsorship.
