We are seeking a strategic visionary and results-driven Senior Digital Strategy Manager to join our Digital Strategy team!
The Digital Strategy team at Wheelhouse was founded in SEO and content strategy and is currently expanding into broader strategic support for our healthcare and medical device clients. More than simply growing organic search visibility, our team of Digital Strategists helps improve our clients’ website experience across all channels, with particular expertise in international SEO, AI optimization, and technical SEO excellence. We work closely with our Digital Advertising team to create integrated strategies that maximize performance across paid and organic channels, ensuring our healthcare clients achieve measurable business results while maintaining compliance with industry regulations. We are embracing the next phase of the consumer journey with the adoption of AI tools and the ever-changing search landscape.
The right applicant will be forward-thinking, willing to test new ideas and platforms, including novel AI applications, and eager to be a thought leader in the digital marketing industry. This role requires someone who can independently manage enterprise-level client relationships and articulate the business value of digital strategy initiatives.
Strategic Focus
As a Senior Digital Strategy Manager at Wheelhouse DMG, you will be the driving force behind our healthcare clients’ digital success, acting as a strategic partner while ensuring flawless execution of search and content initiatives. Your role will be pivotal in:
- Leading and overseeing a portfolio of enterprise healthcare and medical device client retainers and projects, including high-value engagements
- Developing and implementing data-driven strategic initiatives that deliver meaningful business value, with the ability to articulate digital strategy’s connection to broader business objectives and revenue impact
- Creating integrated digital strategies that align organic search efforts with paid media performance, enabling the Digital Advertising team to maximize campaign effectiveness
- Managing strategic initiatives across international markets and multi-language properties
- Leading AI monitoring and optimization efforts to keep clients ahead of the evolving search landscape
- Identifying and pursuing opportunities to recommend new avenues of support to existing clients in a helpful and thoughtful manner
- Mentoring colleagues through training and knowledge sharing activities, contributing to building team capabilities
- Coordinating communication across the practice and company relating to clients’ digital strategy
- Cultivating deep, multifaceted relationships with key stakeholders at healthcare client organizations, becoming their trusted advisor for strategic website initiatives and leading executive-level conversations independently
Responsibilities
In this pivotal role, you will balance strategic leadership with hands-on management to ensure exceptional client outcomes:
- Lead and oversee a portfolio of ongoing enterprise client retainers and projects, managing multiple concurrent workstreams effectively
- Oversee international SEO strategies, in partnership with others on the DS team and across the organization
- Regularly monitor client performance, conduct technical SEO audits, and participate in Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs)
- Lead AI monitoring and optimization initiatives, staying ahead of how AI is transforming the search landscape
- Conduct comprehensive competitor analysis and develop positioning strategies for each market
- Create localized keyword research and content roadmaps tailored to regional audiences
- Develop and support content strategies for Organic Search and other non-paid channels
- Collaborate closely with Digital Advertising team to create integrated strategies that maximize performance across paid and organic channels, providing landing page strategy, conversion optimization recommendations, and user testing insights that enhance landing page performance
- Identify and lead user testing opportunities to improve the website experience across paid and organic channels
- Create a strategic narrative and articulate a story in client presentations that speaks to business value and ROI
- Use qualitative and quantitative data to develop and support strategic recommendations
- Lead weekly client calls and manage stakeholder relationships across all levels of client organizations
- Evaluate situations and determine when to push through blockers, pivot strategies, or escalate for additional support
- Research and stay up-to-date on SEO, international search, AI optimization, and content strategy trends and tactics
- Demonstrate thought leadership through content creation, internal training, public speaking, workshops, etc.
While focusing on these strategic initiatives, you will also ensure the flawless execution of day-to-day activities, including:
- Producing strategic deliverables for clients and overseeing tactical website initiatives across multiple markets
- Developing content briefs and optimization recommendations for localized content
- Implementing schema markup strategies and providing technical guidance to development teams
- Performing technical SEO monitoring and optimization
- Delivering weekly performance updates and monthly comprehensive reports
- Ensuring tactics are executed correctly without errors
- Delivering outstanding work that meets or exceeds client expectations and Wheelhouse’s quality standards
- Fostering a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing within the team
- Supporting Wheelhouse’s service expansion in a changing digital environment, helping us stay ahead of the curve with digital trends
Experience & Skills
- 6+ years of experience in SEO and/or digital strategy with 3+ years of leading digital strategy for enterprise clients, preferably in healthcare or medical device industries
- Proven expertise in international and multi-language SEO, with a track record of developing and executing global search strategies
- Exceptional strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex business challenges into actionable digital strategies and articulate their business value
- Executive presence with the ability to speak clearly and convincingly to the business value of strategic initiatives, moving beyond tactical SEO to connect digital strategy to broader business objectives and revenue impact
- Deep expertise in search engine optimization, content strategy, and user experience, with strong technical SEO proficiency
- Experience implementing schema markup and conducting comprehensive technical SEO audits
- Proficiency with Google Analytics, Google Search Console, enterprise SEO tools, and keyword research platforms
- Experience with AI optimization and content strategy, including experimenting with AI tools and a basic understanding of LLMs and how they work
- Understanding of CRO principles and UX optimization, with experience supporting performance marketing initiatives
- Experience managing client engagements of $500K+ in value
- Strong leadership abilities, including experience mentoring team members and contributing to team capability development
- Outstanding relationship-building skills, with a demonstrated ability to understand clients’ business goals and cultivate strong personal connections
- Proven ability to independently manage strategic client relationships and lead executive-level conversations
- Track record of managing multiple concurrent client workstreams effectively
- Ability to balance high-level strategic thinking with attention to detail in day-to-day execution
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to create compelling strategic narratives
- Agency experience is required

Full compensation packages are based on the skills and experience of the candidate. Candidates hired in this role should expect an offer in this range. Compensation Range
$110,000—$130,000 USD
