Job Description

About the Working Families Party

The Working Families Party (WFP) is the progressive party for the multiracial working class, fighting for a nation that works for the many, not the few. We recruit, train, and support transformational candidates up and down the ballot — and run them to win.

We believe that no matter where we come from or what our color, most of us want the same things. We want to earn enough to thrive, not just survive, and leave a better future for our kids. We want healthy food and clean water, safe neighborhoods and a safe world. We want to be free.

The Working Families Party is regular people coming together across our differences to make a better future for us all. We’re a multiracial party that fights for workers over bosses and people over the powerful. We want an America which realizes the promise – unrealized in our history – of freedom and equality for all.

ABOUT THIS ROLE

As a Senior Organizer at the Working Families Party (WFP), you’ll coordinate and strengthen our national mobilization efforts through phone banking, texting programs, and large-scale volunteer actions. You’ll play a crucial role in engaging and growing our national volunteer base, especially in regions where WFP has chapters, providing strategic support for key electoral and issue campaigns, and ensuring robust volunteer engagement around critical moments and events.

This role would sustain WFP’s well-developed texting program and grow the phones program to equal footing with consistent opportunities and empowered and well-trained volunteer teams.

This role requires expertise in using phonebanking and texting for direct voter contact, strong project management skills, experience in volunteer management and developing volunteer leadership, and a drive to experiment with new tactics and strategies to reach multiracial working class voters.

  • Oversee WFP’s peer-to-peer texting program, managing volunteer leaders and supporting leadership development, ensuring effective execution of campaigns and voter contact conversations are of the highest quality.

  • Manage the pipeline of requested and approved peer-to-peer text campaigns from Working Families Party, endorsed candidates and campaigns, and allied organizations/organizers.

  • Maintain existing texting resources and develop new materials as needed, including texting scripts and training materials. Ensure materials are utilizing best practices known in the field.

  • Regularly evaluate texting program impact, refining strategies based on data-driven insights.

Overall Mobilization & Volunteer Engagement

  • Develop strategies and experiments within phone and text programs to expand reach and support among multi-racial working class voters in key geographies for WFP and WFP candidates. Grow text and phone programs focusing on bringing in more multi-racial working class volunteers.

  • Plan and execute volunteer mobilizations around major electoral and issue-focused events, integrated with WFP’s phone and text program.

  • Experiment with engagement strategies to reach out to potential supporters and current volunteers, move them up the WFP ladder of engagement, and deepen their leadership.

  • Maintaining a regular schedule of 1-1 relational meetings / call time to support program goals.

  • Work to meet the overall goals of the organizing team as needed, such as supporting the development of our relational organizing program or supporting WFP’s monthly new member welcome gatherings.
