Who You Are
As an Escrow Accountant, you are responsible for managing reconciliations for escrow accounts. You will assist in cleanup & catch-up for the escrow accounts, manage and clear daily exceptions, coach our teams on best accounting practices, and alert management to any audit red flags. Most importantly, you will be responsible for maintaining daily 3-way reconciliation for all Escrow accounts.
What You’ll Do Here
- Weekly and monthly accounting duties such as but not limited to, ensuring a timely receipt of escrow funds, monitoring individual guaranty files and escrow bank accounts, preparing “shorts and overs” and any escrow loss request funds internal transfers
- Monthly review of outstanding escrow checks over 60 and 90 days old. Communication with closing teams and clients to ensure checks are cleared and disposition of funds are finalized.
- Assist with timely month end close process; bank account & escrow account reconciliations; balance sheet account reconciliations, prepaid and reimbursed expense account reconciliations; write-off of cancelled file costs
- Assist with Escrow Audit Reporting such as coordination with outside auditors and Corporate Finance
What You Bring
- College degree or equivalent experience of at least 1-2 years in a finance/accounting role (Finance/Accounting majors preferred, but not required)
- Prior work experience of 1-2 years working for a National Title Insurance company or the mortgage banking and loan industry a plus
- Intermediate Excel skills (pivot tables, vlookups, etc)
- Strong understanding of GAAP
- Experience with inter-company transactions
- Familiarity with Title industry software such as Qualia, SoftPro or ResWare
- Must bet willing to work from Monday-Friday, 8:30 am to 5:30 pm US CST hours
