About the role
As an Accountant at Sporty, you will be an integral part of an expanding Finance team in a new market. You will collaborate closely and operationally with multiple internal and external stakeholders. Located in our newly established offices in Century City, Cape Town
What you’ll be doing
- Perform daily, detailed reconciliations of high volumes of data. Identify and resolve all differences promptly through engaging with Payment Service Providers, Operations and Fraud teams
- Process invoices, ensuring on time approval and payment. Resolve any queries with vendors to ensure a smooth and efficient procure to pay cycle
- Deliver well maintained, accurate accounting records through daily bookkeeping activities
- Perform key financial controls, constantly reviewing and refining these to ensure they operate at optimal level
- Provide ongoing and ad hoc financial analysis and reporting to support data based decision making
- Execute key financial reviews and controls to maintain data integrity and accuracy
- Detailed involvement in all audits, working directly with auditors, tax and gaming authorities
- Calculate and coordinate tax submissions to SARS and gambling boards
What you’ll bring
- A self starter who works hard, makes decisions quickly and operates with urgency. Type A personality who thrives in a fast paced environment
- Prefers a flat organisational structure, to engage with all levels of employees, and collaborate with a variety of different company functions
- To be successful in this role, you’ll need at least 3 years experience as an Accountant or Bookkeeper, with at least 1 of those years being in the betting or fintech industries
- A relevant accounting qualification is required. You should have working knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping procedures and be proficient in using accounting software
- Exceptional Excel skills are a must
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities are also critical
