Job description

Team Rubicon (TR) is seeking an Associate, Public Relations to join TR’s Brand & Communications team! The Associate, Public Relations will support and execute national media outreach efforts, enhancing TR’s visibility, strengthening relationships with media outlets, and driving brand awareness on a national scale. This position will focus on securing media coverage, managing press outreach, and ensuring consistent messaging across national platforms. The Associate, Public Relations will play a key role in building relationships with journalists, coordinating media opportunities, and supporting rapid-response communications during disaster operations. This individual must be proactive, detail-oriented, and skilled in media relations, with experience securing earned media placements and engaging with high-profile reporters and outlets.

Every day will be a challenge, but every month brings new opportunities for an organization that is quickly becoming a household name in disaster response. This position reports to TR’s Director, Communications and is based remote anywhere within the United States.

Duties:

  • Lead national media outreach efforts, building and maintaining relationships with journalists, editors, and producers.
  • Secure earned media placements across print, digital, and broadcast outlets to elevate TR’s brand and mission.
  • Develop and distribute press materials, including media advisories, press releases, and key messaging documents.
  • Coordinate media interviews, including scheduling, briefing spokespeople, and providing talking points.
  • Monitor and analyze media coverage, identifying trends and opportunities for increased visibility.
  • Support crisis communications and rapid-response efforts, ensuring timely and strategic media engagement.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align media outreach with TR’s broader brand and marketing efforts.
  • Track and report on media outreach efforts, providing insights and recommendations for ongoing strategy.

Education and Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years of experience in public relations, media relations, or a related field
  • Proven ability to secure national media coverage and maintain relationships with high-profile reporters
  • Experience writing press materials and coordinating media interviews.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives
  • Experience using media monitoring platforms such as Muck Rack, Cision, or Meltwater
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment

Special Requirements:

  • This is a full-time; REMOTE position based anywhere within the United States and provides a flexible & non-traditional work schedule (relocation expenses not provided)

  • $47,054.09 - $80,205.84 per year
