There is a robust and growing community of industry, policy, and civil society advocates pressing for reform of this ecosystem, they all need data to inform their actions.

The Global Disinformation Index was born out of this need for data, specifically the need for transparent, independent neutral disinformation risk ratings across the open web. Thus, GDI was established in 2018 as a not-for-profit entity built on the pillars of neutrality and independence.

GDI is seeking applicants we are looking for an experienced and motivated Fundraising Manager to join our small, passionate team. We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, detail-oriented, curious, and adaptable.

We’re seeking a dependable and proactive fundraising professional who can confidently lead and deliver on key fundraising activities. You will work closely with the leadership team to drive income growth through trust and foundation fundraising, individual giving, partnerships, and potentially new revenue streams.

This role is ideal for someone who combines strategic thinking with hands-on delivery. You’ll have the freedom to manage your work with autonomy but will be supported by a team that values collaboration and integrity.

The Fundraising part of this role is pivotal to supporting the CEO’s work to attract new sources of funding and manage relationships with existing funders.

Key Responsibilities

  • WHAT: Develop and implement a fundraising strategy aligned with our mission and goals.
  • WHO: Research prospective funders and support outreach and relationship-building, keep track of open calls for funding from foundations and governments.
  • Carry out due diligence on prospective funders.
  • HOW: Work with the GDI operational team to write compelling funding applications, grant proposals, and pitch documents.
  • Submit funding applications through funder portals where appropriate or via GDI owned written materials. Working closely with the finance team to ensure proposed budgets are aligned with financial forecasts, and with the team to ensure funder deliverables are aligned with overall GDI goal.
  • Communicate relevant aspects of GDI’s work effectively to different funder audiences via the development of GDI owned materials such as donor reports, newsletters etc.
  • Track and report on fundraising performance, sharing regular updates with the team.

Essential Experience and Behaviours

  • Has at least 2–3 years’ experience in fundraising or development (non-profit or charity sector preferred).
  • Can work independently and take ownership of projects.
  • Is organised, reliable, and results-driven and numerate.
  • Excellent writing skills with a record of published material.
  • Can communicate our story clearly and compellingly.
  • Learning and iterative approach to work with eagerness to provide and receive feedback.
  • Conscientious communicator and ability to coordinate seamlessly across teams.
  • Understands the importance of values-led fundraising and donor stewardship.
  • Familiarity with audience development best practices, benchmarking and data tracking.
  • Familiarity with UK charity fundraising compliance.

Desirable Experience and Behaviours

  • Professional fluency in languages other than English.
  • Past experience working as part of a remote/virtual team.
  • Experience using work and relationship management tools such as Asana and Salesforce.
  • Experience managing concurrent projects across countries and time zones.
  • Experience with CRM tools or donor databases.
  • Experience building partnerships with corporates or major donors.

Terms

  • Location - Remote working (Candidates based, and with the right to work in the UK preferred).
  • Salary - Competitive salary based on location.
  • Hours - Working hours are flexible. Part-time 0.4-0.6 FTE (15-22.5 per week)
  • Flexibility - As a global organisation, some flexibility for cross-time zone communication to be available for limited virtual meetings outside of office hours is required.
