Job description
Global SaaS | Subscription Continuity | Revenue Optimization | Billing Strategy | Stripe & PayPal
We are Futuremedia, an established digital company with a tradition of developing and scaling highly competitive, high-traffic SaaS products used by millions of users since 2014.
Our 100-person team operates a portfolio of recurring revenue products, primarily in the U.S. market, with a centralized payments stack built on Stripe, PayPal, and supplementary providers. We focus on subscription-based models, including trial-to-paid conversions and auto-renewals, and require someone who understands the mechanics, metrics, and compliance considerations of modern digital commerce at scale.
We’re hiring a Head of Payments to lead the evolution of our global payments infrastructure across multiple high-volume digital subscription products. This is a senior strategic and hands-on role responsible for maximizing revenue performance, enhancing billing flows, and managing partner relationships — all within a fast-moving, performance-driven environment.
Why This Role Matters
Payments is central to everything we do. From the first charge to long-term retention, the billing system is both a strategic lever and a defensive layer. This is a role for someone who can blend compliance, performance, and resilience to drive sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the Payments Strategy
Design and execute a comprehensive payments strategy to support conversion, retention, and global scale. Align this with product lifecycle, user experience, and regulatory best practices.
- Optimize Billing Performance
Improve renewal success rates, cascading retries, dunning logic, and update flows to enhance customer lifetime value.
- Billing Optimization
Own renewal logic, cascading retries, dunning flows, and charge attempt orchestration. Use data and creativity to improve LTV, lower churn, and fight involuntary failures. Identify and address friction points in the payment journey.
- Chargebacks & Fraud Management
Keep our dispute ratios below network thresholds across multiple high-risk MIDs. Manage Verifi, Ethoca, fraud screening tools (Stripe Radar, Sift, etc.), and build tactical defenses. Manage appeal and win strategies for chargebacks.
- Drive Risk-Aware Revenue Recovery
Implement data-led initiatives to increase authorization rates and optimize revenue continuity across user cohorts, billing platforms, and geographic regions.
- Manage Processor & Vendor Relationships
Own day-to-day and strategic relationships with Stripe and PayPal. Navigate account flags, negotiate fees, optimize MID use, and escalate like a pro.
- Support Compliance & Transparency
Collaborate with legal and product to ensure payment flows meet evolving global standards, including FTC, Visa/MC, PCI-DSS, and PSD2/SCA compliance, particularly in continuity and renewal environments.
- Monitor Metrics & Insights
Track KPIs like auth rates, recovery rate, dispute ratios, churn, retry success, and LTV by processor or flow. Run tests. Build dashboards. Spot fires before they start. Collaborate closely with engineering and product.
- Build & Lead a Lean Payments Team
Grow and manage a lean payments team of analysts and fraud ops to support your goals. Train them on how to fight smarter, not harder.
- 7+ years in payments or recurring billing environments, ideally in digital subscriptions, trial-to-paid funnels, or performance-driven commerce.
- Proven leadership of payment systems across subscription or recurring billing models with high chargeback exposure.
- Expert-level familiarity with Stripe, PayPal, and optionality around alternative processors or payment stacks.
- Strong understanding of subscription lifecycle optimization — including free trial conversions, renewal logic, and customer-initiated billing flows.
- First Hand experience with Verifi, Ethoca, Sift, Kount, Stripe Radar, and other fraud and chargeback-fighting tools.
- Solid grasp of compliance frameworks, including Visa/MC rules, FTC transparency guidelines, and regional billing laws.
- Fluency in billing metrics: authorization rate, involuntary churn, recovery %, dispute ratios, and their impact on revenue and LTV.
- Strong data instincts and comfort with tools like SQL, Looker, or custom dashboards.
- Comfort in high-pressure environments where payment stability directly impacts business continuity.
Nice to Have
Experience in high-growth or high-scrutiny verticals, including consumer-facing SaaS, continuity commerce, or performance marketing environments.
Familiarity with multi-MID environments, alternative payment methods, or localized billing.
Prior ownership of payment KPIs (billing, retention, compliance) as well as dispute ratio thresholds in aggressive growth environments.
Long-term, full-time position
22 days of paid annual leave per year
Work on high-profile projects for international brands and digital products generating millions of visitors monthly
Flexible hours
Work from home
Company-sponsored up-skilling
If you’re a payments operator who understands the nuances of subscription flows, platform dynamics, and revenue protection, we’d love to talk.
