Job description
We’re looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Logistics Assistant to join our team, ideally with experience in logistics within the food industry. In this role, you’ll play a key part in ensuring the smooth flow of our inventory, from international arrivals to inter-warehouse transfers. Responsibilities:
Assist with transportation and inventory management needs.
Track and trace ocean cargo arrivals, primarily for NY/NJ and Los Angeles ports, as well as other ancillary ports.
Update ocean arrival sheets with accurate Estimated Times of Arrival ( ETAs).
Coordinate with freight forwarders and steamship lines to confirm container releases before free time expires.
Confirm arrivals are FDA released and update inventory upon confirmation.
Assist with coordination with customs brokers on U.S. Customs and Border Protection ( CBP) and FDA matters.
Assign and book drayage carriers for ocean container pickups from ports.
Send in-bound notifications to warehouses for arriving ocean containers.
Update inventory when cargo is physically unloaded and available at the warehouse.
Scan and review inventory to create inventory transfers between warehouses.
Gather quotes and book freight transportation for inventory transfers.
Track inventory transfers that are in transit.
Request delivery appointments with warehouses for transfers and provide packing slips.
Coordinate deliveries of storage trailers between our warehouse and a local storage yard in San Diego
3 years of experience in logistics, preferably within the food industry.
Familiarity with ocean cargo tracking and port operations (NY/NJ, Los Angeles preferred).
Understanding of FDA and CBP regulations related to imports.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
Great speaking and writing English skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Work remotely Monday - Friday, 40 hours a week (no weekends)
Vacation: 10 business days a year
Holidays: 5 National Holidays a year
