About the role
We’re hiring a People Ops Intern to join our People & Culture team for a 9-month full-time internship with the goal of converting to a full-time role at the end of the program.
This role is your front-row seat to the inner workings of a high-growth startup People function. You’ll work directly with our Head of People and contribute across the full employee lifecycle - from hiring and onboarding to employee engagement, internal communications, and culture-building.
You’ll help optimize and scale our People Ops foundations, ensuring our systems, workflows, and documentation support a growing, distributed team. You’ll also support talent acquisition, helping with hiring logistics, candidate experience, and employer branding that showcases Clerkie as a standout place to work. On the culture side, you’ll help drive community-building initiatives from employee recognition and milestone celebrations to virtual team events, offsites, hackathons, and even our annual company retreat.
This is an ideal role for someone earlier in their career (maybe your first or second job) who’s excited to grow into a thoughtful, well-rounded People professional. You’ll be involved in everything from building processes and coordinating logistics to making sure employees feel welcomed, seen, and celebrated. Here’s what you’ll do
- Help build and scale smooth onboarding and offboarding workflows
- Plan and support Clerkie’s 2026 annual retreat, team offsites, reward trips, hackathons, and virtual events 🏝️
- Coordinate hiring logistics, interview scheduling, and candidate communications
- Support employer branding and talent community building effots - think writing culture-forward LinkedIn posts, organizing talent fireside chats, and more
- Celebrate employee milestones (birthdays, anniversaries, wins) in meaningful and personal ways
- Maintain and improve internal documentation in Coda and other People tools
- Write clear, human-centered internal comms that keep our team connected
- Join hiring syncs, People rituals, and async projects with curiosity and heart
Here’s a snapshot of what the People team tackled last month
- Onboarded 9 new hires making sure every teammate had the tools, context, and warm welcome they needed to hit the ground running
- Reviewed inbound applications across multiple roles, helping keep our candidate pipeline thoughtful, responsive, and on track
- Hosted a virtual team bonding event (possibly involving trivia, scavenger hunts, or competitive rock-paper-scissors)
- Supported interns and early-career hires with onboarding, feedback, and community-building moments
- Updated our People & Culture documentation in Coda so it no longer lived in a “mystery maze”
- Planned the first round of logistics for our 2026 Annual Retreat with more fun (and SPF) to come 🌴
- Coordinated birthday surprises in Slack, complete with custom emojis, thoughtful touches, and very Clerkie vibes
- Helped amplify DEI-focused culture moments, ensuring all teammates feel seen, heard, and celebrated
- Shepherded our Q3 company OKRs from kickoff to tracking helping align teams and keep goals visible
- Played a key role in our annual performance review cycle ensuring every employee felt valued, rewarded, and supported with a process that was buttoned-up and easy to navigate
- Partnered with our executive team on people-related initiatives, including employee relations, feedback loops, and strategic planning
- Helped field tool requests, coordinate calendar chaos, and bring levity to busy days in the best People Ops way
- Got data driven with our Talent metrics in Greenhouse and showcased to our Csuite and board all the exciting updates in our world of talent community

Must-haves
- Genuine interest in People, Talent, and Culture with a people-first mindset
- Strong attention to detail and a love for organization
- Clear communicator with a warm, people-first approach
- Proactive and curious - you take initiative and love learning by doing
- Comfortable working remotely and managing priorities independently
- A collaborative spirit and an eagerness to grow
- Ability to handle stakeholder management from executive level to interns, as well as externally with vendors and talent community members, with grace and tact
Nice-to-haves (but not required)
- Experience with LinkedIn, Google Workspace, Coda, Greenhouse, or Notion
- Previous internship or school experience in HR, comms, recruiting, or operations
- A knack for writing people-centered content or organizing virtual events
- Comfort with ambiguity and excitement about working in a startup environment
- Prior experience in a tech company, startup, or product-adjacent role
- Passion for financial wellness, tech-for-good, or startup life
