About the role:

8am is looking for a Senior Data Engineer that will play a critical role at the company building and maintaining 8am’s analytics infrastructure, core tools for providing insight into our products and customers. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will work with engineering and business stakeholders to help design, implement, and maintain optimized scalable solutions that combine data across the product ecosystem to help people make decisions and serve our customers.  You will also make your mark mentoring other team members and stakeholders to use data more effectively.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop and optimize ETL processes
  • Integrate data sources across a broad product portfolio to provide stakeholders access to key information they need to excel at their job
  • Mentor other data engineers
  • Work in close collaboration with operations, product management, data scientists, and analysts to clarify requirements and translate them into robust, scalable, operable data architecture
  • Define and model data architecture for AffiniPay’s data warehouse
  • Model data and metadata to support ad-hoc and pre-built reporting facilitating data access for our BI tools and analytical reporting
  • Provide technical guidance to help Data Engineering evolve  access to data platform
  • Work with engineering to integrate tracking of new functionality into the data ecosystem
  • Optimize the performance of business-critical queries

About you:

  • 5+ years of data engineering experience
  • Experience working in an enterprise data warehouse environment
  • Experience building programmatic data pipelines
  • Cloud infrastructure experience (AWS preferred)
  • Experience building and maintaining relational as well as  document, key-value, and other noSQL databases
  • Advanced Python & SQL skills
  • Experience working with third-party APIs for data integration
  • Experience with business process automation
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a technical field (or similar combination of education and experience)
  • Spark and Redshift experience (PySpark preferred)
  • Airflow experience
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform / CloudFormation)
  • CI/CD experience
  • Kafka experience
