Job description

The Role, Sr. Engineering Manager

-this position is based in Canada

GoCanvas, SiteDocs, and Bluebeam work together as part of the Nemetschek Group to streamline construction and field operations. GoCanvas specializes in digital fieldworker collaboration and compliance, while SiteDocs, a GoCanvas solution, focuses on workplace safety management through mobile and web apps. Bluebeam enhances these capabilities by providing powerful workflow automation and seamless integrations, allowing teams to connect data, automate processes, and keep field and office teams in sync. Together, these platforms create a unified ecosystem that improves efficiency, safety, and collaboration across construction projects.

SiteDocs is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to join their team! As a Senior Engineering Manager, you’ll lead and grow high-performing engineering teams while overseeing delivery across a mix of full-time staff and external vendor partners. You will shape the technical direction, execution strategy, and team health across one or more product lines. This role blends hands-on team leadership with broader organizational influence—partnering with Product, Design, and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver scalable, high-quality software.

You’ll work across boundaries—between internal and external teams, across product lines, and within a broader multi-brand environment—while elevating engineering culture, execution, and ownership.

Your Most Important Initiatives:

  • Team Leadership & Development
    • Lead 1–2 cross-functional teams, including oversight of external contractors or vendor relationships.
    • Hire, onboard, and develop engineers; foster a culture of growth, accountability, and continuous improvement.
    • Conduct regular 1:1s, provide coaching and feedback, and support career development across the team.
  • Technical Strategy & Execution
    • Shape and communicate technical vision in partnership with Engineering and Product leadership.
    • Ensure technical quality in deliverables, code health, and architectural alignment with long-term platform goals.
    • Drive planning and execution for product initiatives, balancing internal and vendor contributions.
  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Communication
    • Partner with Product, Design, and Go-To-Market teams to align delivery with business needs.
    • Represent Engineering in leadership forums, translating between technical and non-technical audiences.
    • Drive alignment in multi-brand or integration contexts, ensuring transparency and momentum.
  • Process Improvement & Performance Monitoring
    • Implement and evolve engineering workflows using agile methodologies while keeping process lean and purpose-driven.
    • Track key engineering KPIs.
    • Continuously refine team execution, culture, and system-level resilience through structured improvements.
  • Innovation & Technical Oversight
    • Stay current on relevant technologies and industry trends.
    • Support technical exploration, R&D, and architectural experimentation that aligns with business priorities.
    • Own operational excellence: system scalability, performance, and reliability.

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 7+ years of experience in software engineering, including 3+ years managing teams.
  • Experience managing distributed teams and external vendor or contractor relationships.
  • Strong technical background in modern software development practices, architecture, and infrastructure.
  • Proven ability to lead through ambiguity and drive clarity across multiple product lines or organizations.
  • Excellent communication skills for cross-functional leadership, conflict resolution, and influence.
  • High emotional intelligence and a track record of building strong, inclusive team cultures.

Our success is rooted in a wonderfully wholesome culture, best defined by our four overarching values:

  • Authentic Relationships - People are never a means to an end.
  • Continuous Learning - Test every assumption and never stay stagnant.
  • Interdependence - We build systems that require everyone to perform with excellence, we are a team, and we succeed or fail together.
  • Data Driven Decisions - Because wisdom requires understanding the facts of the matter, disputes between competing perspectives are resolved with data.

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status. We are committed to building a team that represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills. The more inclusive we are, the better our work will be. We take into account an individual’s qualifications, skillset, and experience in determining final salary. This role is eligible for health insurance (medical, dental & vision), life insurance, 401(k) & paid time off. The expected compensation range for this position is about $190k-$230k CAD annually. The actual offer will be at the company’s sole discretion and determined by relevant business considerations, including the final candidate’s qualifications, years of experience, skillset, and geographic location.
