Please note that this position is based in Princeton, NJ or San Diego, CA. Acadia’s hybrid model requires this role to work in our office three days per week on average.
Position Summary:
The Executive Director, Managed Markets leads all Managed Markets functions, spanning account management, marketing, contracting, and product access, to drive optimized market performance. This person shapes and executes comprehensive channel strategies across Trade, Specialty Pharmacy, National Accounts, Hospital Systems, GPOs, and Federal channels, delivering strong access and business results.
Primary Responsibilities:
Develops and leads the overarching Managed Markets commercial strategy to optimize profitable access and drive revenue growth.
Sets annual business plans, revenue targets, and key account priorities; continuously refines execution to maximize performance.
Owns performance management, including share and profitability tracking, and drives targeted strategies, messaging, and tactics to optimize results.
Partners with Marketing and Commercial teams to translate brand strategy into managed care and product portfolio strategies, value propositions, and promotional programs.
Develops pricing and contracting strategies aligned with market dynamics and long-term portfolio objectives.
Leads contracting lifecycle, including negotiation, approvals, execution, and implementation of agreements.
Drives access initiatives and pull-through programs to enhance reimbursement, awareness, and product uptake.Monitors channel and customer performance to identify opportunities, optimize support, and deliver incremental growth.
Supports product launches with accountability for access and market share achievement.
Builds strong cross-functional alignment across Sales, Marketing, Medical, and Finance; ensures a seamless customer experience through effective account management integration.
Oversees external vendors and ensures projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Implements and manages systems to track account activity, formulary access, and market share performance.
Leads, develops, and mentors a high-performing team; drives hiring, performance management, and career development.
Represents the organization internally and externally, ensuring accurate communication of business priorities and industry trends.
Ensures compliance with company policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, health care, business administration or related; Master’s degree preferred.
- A minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible experience within sales, marketing and managed markets related functions with 8 or more years directly and progressively responsible experience related to managed care industry
- 3+ years provider contracting and contract negotiations with commercial and public plans
- 3+ years of retail pharmacy experience
- 6+ years in a leadership role.
- A combination of relevant education and applicable job experience may be considered.
Key Skills:
- Proven success in developing and executing strategy through expert understanding of the market and industry.
- Experience successfully launching new products, exceeding formulary access and market share goals.
- Extensive knowledge of reimbursement, clinical coding/terminology, managed care and healthcare policy.
- Comprehensive understanding of industry standard managed contract language.
- Established relationships with Managed Care, Trade, Government executives and key opinion leaders (KOLs).
- Demonstrated success building organizations, creating and leading highly effective high performing teams.
- Demonstrated analytical abilities and proficient planning and negotiation skills.
- Versed in Account Management software systems.
- Ability to effectively communicate in English in verbal, written, and presentation form.
- Skilled at negotiating with business partners or management and influencing senior level leaders regarding matters of significance to the organization.
- Proficient at creating and communicating a clear vision among team members effectively aligning resources and activities to achieve functional area and/or organizational goals.
- Able to travel overnight approximately 30%.

In addition to a competitive base salary, this position is also eligible for discretionary bonus and equity awards based on factors such as individual and organizational performance. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance, and location.
Salary Range
$220,200—$316,100 USD
