Job Description
Responsibilities
- Lead test design and implementation: Create and maintain detailed test plans, cases, and Playwright scripts for both UI and API testing to ensure high test coverage and early defect detection
- Shape and enforce automation strategy: Contribute to the overall test strategy and apply best practices in scalable, maintainable, and high-performing automation
- Optimize automation frameworks: Continuously review and refine automation frameworks for speed, reliability, and flexibility across diverse use cases
- Enable CI/CD integration: Implement and maintain automated integration tests within CI/CD pipelines to ensure consistent quality throughout the delivery cycle
- Support cross-team collaboration: Work closely with developers, testers, product managers, and business analysts to troubleshoot defects and align testing with project goals
- Mentor and guide: Provide mentorship to mid-level and junior team members, conduct code reviews, and promote knowledge sharing across the QA team
- Drive reporting and improvement: Analyze test results, generate automation metrics, and communicate findings and insights to leadership and stakeholders
- Address complex testing challenges: Tackle asynchronous behavior and complex workflows by leveraging Playwright’s advanced capabilities to improve test stability
Qualifications
Must have
- 5+ years of experience in Automation Test Engineering
- Proven hands-on expertise with Playwright for UI and API automation using JavaScript, TypeScript, or a comparable language (e.g., Java, Python, C#)
- Strong understanding of web technologies (HTML, CSS) and web application behavior
- Strong experience in API testing, including tools and frameworks (e.g., Postman, REST Assured) and solid understanding of API design and validation
- Hands-on experience with mobile automation frameworks such as Appium (or similar)
- Experience with performance testing methodologies and tools (e.g., JMeter, Locust, LoadRunner), including test design and analysis
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD integration, including embedding automated tests in pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions)
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and cross-functional collaboration
- Proficiency in test management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, X-Ray, TestRail, AQUA)
- Experience with version control (Git)
- Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams
Nice to have
- Knowledge of accessibility testing methodologies and tools
- Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud platforms (e.g., Google Cloud, AWS, Azure)
- Background in BDD frameworks such as Cucumber or CodeceptJS
- Exposure to other automation frameworks such as Cypress, TestCafe, or WebdriverIO
- Understanding of cross-platform testing strategies and ecosystem integrations
