About Alliance for Youth Action
We empower young people to build political power for an equitable and just democracy. We strengthen youth organizing by acting as a capacity builder, ecosystem leader, and funding intermediary. As a capacity builder, we support our Network’s political programs and operations. As an ecosystem leader, we help create new organizations to expand youth civic engagement. As a funding intermediary, we provide resources to youth-led groups nationwide.
We operate as a network of 16 affiliates across 15 states. Each affiliate has its own identity and approach. We also expand our reach by growing new youth-led organizations through the Youth Civic Accelerator, which has launched four chapters in three additional states. We work to turn out young voters, elect progressive leaders, and pass policies.
Founded in 2013 as the Bus Federation, we changed our name to Alliance for Youth Action as our mission grew. We are the only national organization that funds, trains, and coordinates youth-led organizations. We also run national field and narrative programs to strengthen local power. Our network unites around five common issues: abortion access and reproductive justice, climate and environmental justice, housing rights, reimagining public safety, and voting rights.
