We are an energy-focused quantitative investment management group specializing in data-centric investment strategies within today’s energy markets. Our core activity is understanding and predicting outcomes on electricity grids. Our positions aim to stabilize energy prices and encourage the adoption of renewable power.

We operate with a start-up model, using small teams and few layers of management to identify and capitalize on opportunities where quantitative analysis provides an advantage. We build proprietary tools that support our trading operations, turning market insights into high-powered models and analysis tools. We collaborate with investment analysts to translate market workflows into software. This improves our investment performance and allows us to maintain the entire lifecycle of our forecasting and analysis tools.

Our team consists of 11-50 professionals. We operate with a start-up model, using small teams and few layers of management. We have offices outside Washington, DC (Arlington, VA) and in Downtown Los Angeles, CA. Decisions are made firm-wide, and teams are structured by function, often collaborating across offices.

We foster an intellectually curious, collaborative working environment with an open-door policy and group lunches. We often follow ‘online’ working hours firm-wide to facilitate cross-office projects. Employees are encouraged to seek help or guidance whenever needed. Non-manager offices are typically shared, with meeting rooms available for presentations and group work.

We invest in our employees through extensive on-the-job training and mentoring. New hires receive significant responsibility from day one. The initial two weeks include technical training and industry context, covering programming, data science, energy markets, and system architecture. The learning curve is steep for the first year, as analysts work on various projects with experienced colleagues. Company events like firm-wide summits, happy hours, trivia and game nights, escape room outings, barbecues, and team lunches help build close bonds. Day-to-day activities involve significant quantitative analysis, using programming languages, database systems, and statistics packages. We look for individuals with strong quantitative and analytical methods, coming from diverse backgrounds including the sciences, finance, engineering, and the humanities.

We offer an annual salary of $110,000, plus an annual discretionary bonus and a signing bonus. We provide 20 paid vacation days and 7 paid federal holidays.

We provide health, dental, and vision insurance, including an HSA option. There are no monthly premiums for a platinum individual plan. We offer a 401k match: 100% company matching on the first 4% of deferrals with immediate vesting.

Additional benefits include an annual firm-wide week-long summit and a fully remote work option for the month of July and between Thanksgiving and New Year’s. The work environment is casual, and our offices provide snacks and unlimited coffee. We also sponsor social events like happy hours, lunches, and a book club.
