Job Summary
Aretum is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Sr. FOIA Analyst to join our team. As a Sr. FOIA Analyst at Aretum, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) program and ensuring compliance with FOIA regulations and guidelines.
Due to the nature of our work as a federal consulting organization, employees may be expected to handle Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and must adhere to applicable safeguarding and compliance requirements.
Responsibilities
Review and analyze FOIA requests to determine if they meet the requirements for processing
Conduct research and gather information from various sources to support FOIA requests
Prepare written responses to FOIA requests, ensuring accuracy and compliance with FOIA regulations
Coordinate with internal teams and subject matter experts to gather and review responsive documents
Track and monitor FOIA requests, ensuring timely responses and adherence to established deadlines
Provide guidance and training to staff regarding FOIA regulations, policies, and procedures
Stay updated on changes in FOIA regulations and guidelines, and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of the FOIA program
Manage and maintain FOIA tracking systems and databases
5 years of federal FOIA experience
J.D.
Ability to process FOIA requests from cradle-to-grave
Experience reviewing large record sets and applying redactions to responsive records in accordance with the FOIA, and any applicable case law
Experience drafting correspondence
Experience managing FOIA admin files in accordance with office SOPs
Experience preparing FOIA appeal packages for legal sufficiency review
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency with FOIAXpress
- Experience working with OGC on FOIA appeals or FOIA litigation matters
Travel Requirements
This is a remote position; however, occasional travel may be required based on project needs, client meetings, team collaboration events, or training sessions. Travel is expected to be less than 10% and will be communicated in advance whenever possible.
