Job Description

We are currently seeking a qualified Project Accountant to join our accounting team, based out of Calgary AB. Reporting to the Project Accounting Manager, the Project Accountant is responsible for managing the financial aspects of their projects including but not limited to revenue recognition and cost review, invoicing, margin analysis, unbilled reconciliations, supporting client audit requests and working with project teams to ensure timely and accurate client invoicing in addition to other department processes and responsibilities.  The right candidate will have prior project accounting experience with a solid understanding of project accounting processes enhanced by strong problem-solving abilities and the desire to learn and grow with our business.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare timely and accurate client invoices in accordance with contract terms
  • Review prime contract terms to ensure compliance with invoicing and reporting requirements
  • Complete monthly project accounting tasks, including journal entries and project data analysis
  • Conduct unbilled revenue reconciliations and actively manage unbilled balances
  • Perform project margin analysis and provide insights to project and finance teams
  • Monitor project receivable balances and follow up as required
  • Work independently to prioritize workload and meet internal and client deadlines
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and communicate financial information clearly
  • Utilize ERP systems (Agresso experience an asset) to support project accounting workflows
  • Work onsite at the downtown Calgary office as required

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of project accounting experience in an EPC environment working on large client projects
  • Advanced understanding of accounting principles and revenue recognition
  • Strong Excel skills (advanced level)
  • ERP system experience; Agresso is an asset
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
  • Pursuing a CPA designation is considered an asset
  • Desire to grow with the company
