BEAM Circular

Founded in 2023, we are a small team (1-10 employees) working in economic programs. We are building a regional ecosystem for the circular bioeconomy in California –specifically in the North San Joaquin Valley.

We facilitate collaboration through our BioEconomy, Agriculture, & Manufacturing (BEAM) Initiative, helping to scale bioindustrial manufacturing innovations. Our goal is to turn waste from food and farming into economic and environmental opportunities.

We run public-private projects and programs that focus on innovation, capital access, infrastructure, talent development, and forming partnerships. We specifically look for ways to convert food waste, agricultural byproducts, and forestry residues into products like bio-based materials, chemicals, energy, and food ingredients.

We co-lead the Circular Bioeconomy Innovation Collaborative (CBIO Collaborative) with UC Merced and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. This collaborative received a National Science Foundation Engines Development Award. We started with seed funding from Stanislaus County, growing out of the Stanislaus 2030 inclusive economic development partnership. Recently, we launched a $2.2 million Stanislaus County Bioeconomy Job Catalyst Fund and acquired a Gas Fermentation Pilot System.

Pay is based on experience and varies by role. For example, some roles pay $80,000 to $100,000 annually, while others pay $26.00 to $32.00 per hour.

You’ll have the chance to help shape public policy where innovation meets sustainability. We offer hybrid work arrangements for roles based in Modesto, CA, with Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays being preferred in-office days.
