We started in 2006, focusing our investments on lower middle market companies. Since then, we’ve raised over $4 billion in capital. We provide growth capital and support our portfolio companies with two proprietary services: Bertram High 5sm and Bertram Labs.

Bertram High 5sm is our operational value creation strategy. It helps companies with management, implementing new initiatives, acquiring other businesses, improving sales and marketing, and using technology.

Bertram Labs is our in-house technology team. They help companies grow through digital marketing, e-commerce, data analytics, app development, and platform optimization.

We invest in companies that meet these criteria:

• Industries: Business Services, Consumer, Industrial/Manufacturing, and Technology.
• Size: Companies with $20M-$250M in revenue and $3.5M-$50M in EBITDA. Our Flagship Fund targets a minimum of $7.5M EBITDA, and our Ignite Fund targets a minimum of $3.5M EBITDA. We also consider smaller or earlier-stage add-on acquisitions.
• Transaction Type: We prefer control positions but our Ignite Fund considers structured non-control positions. We look for private companies or divestitures and engage in management buyouts and shareholder liquidity events.
• Equity: Enterprise Values from $50M-$500M, with platform equity checks from $10M-$250M. We have plenty of capital for add-ons and keep leverage low, typically with 50-70% equity.
