We founded Butlr in 2019 to provide an anonymous people sensing and occupancy detection platform. Our platform uses body heat and AI to understand presence and traffic without capturing identities. Our platform, TheThermal AILayer, helps businesses with workplace planning, optimizing operations, improving tenant experience, and reducing costs. We use privacy-first, camera-free thermal wireless sensors and an API-first data platform that’s scalable and flexible.

Our solutions are used in various sectors, including workplaces, senior care facilities, retail, higher education, and smart buildings. We serve customers in telecommunications, internet services, social media, cloud computing, data warehousing, electronics, HVAC, semiconductors, and streaming media. We’ve deployed over 30,000 sensors, processing more than 1 billion data points daily across 100 million square feet in 22 countries.

We specialize in artificial intelligence, space insights, data platforms, occupancy sensing, IoT, and sensor technology. Our focus areas include workplace utilization and commercial real estate technology. Our engineering team designs, optimizes, and maintains embedded Linux-based gateway systems for IoT and edge applications, focusing on firmware, connectivity, security, and cloud integration. Our Customer Success Managers help clients use space data to improve efficiency, workplace experience, and portfolio strategy.
