We started Butter Payments in 2020 to help subscription businesses recover revenue from failed payments, specifically targeting involuntary churn. We use patent-pending machine learning models to analyze many variables and understand the real-time status of each payment, improving authorization rates. Our approach typically increases clients’ Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) by 5% or more.
We process each failed payment individually, not in batches. Our customized ML models are built using specific business details and payment failure data for each client. We integrate directly with commercial tech stacks like Stripe and Recharge, as well as custom-built platforms.
Our system meets high security standards, undergoing regular vulnerability assessments and penetration testing. It is SOC 2 Type 2 and PCI DSS Level 2 compliant and does not require Personally Identifiable Information (PII). We operate on a revenue share contract model with no retainer fees, so our success is tied to our clients’ revenue recovery.
We focus on both revenue recovery and overall payment health. This means increasing transaction authorization rates and customer Lifetime Value (LTV) while decreasing chargebacks.
