About Center for NYC Neighborhoods

We promote and protect affordable homeownership for middle- and working-class families in New York.

We provide services like mortgage help, foreclosure prevention, coastal community impact understanding, scam prevention, and assistance with home rehabs and retrofits. We specialize in housing counseling, legal services, recovery and resiliency, affordable homeownership, and sustainability initiatives, including energy sustainability programs. We also manage loan-related initiatives such as manual mortgage underwriting, loan origination, processing, packaging, and closing operations for various residential mortgage loan programs.

Leaders from New York City and private foundations established us in 2008 to address the foreclosure crisis during the Great Recession. We are a HUD-approved counseling group, a licensed mortgage banker in New York State, a Certified Community Development Financial Institution, and a Freddie Mac Borrower Help Center in New York State.

We are a non-profit organization with 51 to 200 employees. Our employees work in a collaborative, respectful environment, united by a shared mission to assist homeowners across the state.

We provide staff with resources and training in management and community development to support their growth as leaders.
