About Chainguard
We are Chainguard, founded in 2021 as a computer and network security company specializing in software supply chain security, cybersecurity, container images, and software development. We provide secure, production-ready builds of open source software.
Our offerings include open source software for various layers of the software stack:
- Chainguard Containers: Minimal, customizable, zero-CVE container images with an SLA for CVE remediation.
- Chainguard Libraries: A catalog of malware-resistant language libraries designed to protect against supply chain attacks.
- Chainguard VMs: Minimal, zero-CVE VM images optimized for cloud environments and used as container hosts.
These products are powered by Chainguard OS, a Linux distribution with nano-level updates, and Chainguard Factory, a bot-powered software factory that assembles, hardens, and distributes secure software daily. Our customers include Fortune 500 enterprises and other leading companies like Anduril, Canva, Fortinet, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Snap Inc., and Snowflake.
We have saved customers 340,000 engineering hours and remediated over 85,000 CVEs. Our catalog includes over 1,800 containers (600+ FIPS containers). Customers have seen an 80% reduction in attack surface and a 97.6% average reduction in CVEs.
