The Lead of the Team Legal Officer serves as a key strategic partner to the business and the cornerstone of the company’s legal function. This role is responsible for shaping and executing the legal strategy, ensuring compliance with global financial and regulatory frameworks, and proactively managing legal risk across all jurisdictions in which the company operates.
Responsibilities:
Contract Management
Lead the drafting, review, and negotiation of complex commercial agreements, including SaaS, IaaS, PaaS, licensing, IP/IT, intragroup agreements, NDAs, and service contracts.
Provide strategic legal guidance on software, technology, and IT-related agreements to safeguard company interests and support international commercial transactions.
Establish and maintain contract standards, templates, and playbooks to improve efficiency and consistency.
Corporate & Commercial Law
Oversee corporate governance, legal structuring, and ongoing compliance matters across group entities.
Advise on legal aspects of business transactions, reorganisations, mergers, and acquisitions.
Ensure compliance with applicable corporate and commercial laws and oversee protection of intellectual property rights.
Legal Framework Development
Design, implement, and maintain internal legal frameworks, policies, and procedures, including compliance roadmaps, risk matrices, and legal workflows.
Develop and oversee company policies related to risk management, procurement, and data protection.
Legal Research & Strategic Advisory
Monitor and assess evolving legal and regulatory frameworks (including EU AML, GDPR, gambling regulations, MiCA, and other applicable regimes).
Translate regulatory developments into practical, business-focused guidance and actionable strategies.
Provide clear, pragmatic legal advice to internal stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
Legal Project Management
Act as a legal project manager for cross-functional and multi-jurisdictional initiatives, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with business objectives.
Coordinate closely with internal teams to embed legal requirements into operational and commercial workflows.
Regulatory Compliance & Data Protection
Lead and support data protection and privacy-related matters, including handling internal and external requests.
Monitor regulatory changes and ensure ongoing compliance with financial, corporate, technology, and data protection regulations.
Prepare legal reports and provide recommendations for continuous compliance improvement.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
Collaborate closely with internal departments (HR, Marketing, Finance, IT, Compliance, and Operations) to address legal needs and support business initiatives.
Manage legal workload distribution, project timelines, and quality of deliverables across the legal team.
Resolve team conflicts and support conflict management initiatives where required.
Knowledge Management & Professional Standards
Drive knowledge-sharing initiatives within the legal function and across the wider organisation.
Maintain the highest standards of confidentiality, ethics, and professionalism in all legal activities.
Continuously improve legal processes, tools, and practices to enhance efficiency and scalability.
Requirements:
- Master of Laws or LLM from an accredited law school, and other professional education is a plus
- Minimum of 7+ years of legal expertise and experience in commercial, corporate, and contracting law
- Strong background with international laws, taxation matters, financial transactions and the IT sector
- Proven experience drafting and negotiating various types of international agreements
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to conduct thorough legal research
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration, ability to guide and lead the other lawyers
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality legal work under pressure within demanding timelines
- High level of legal ethics and strong organizational and team management skills
- Fluent in English (C1+); other languages are a plus
Nice to have:
- Data Protection Professional Certification (DPO or others), Expert of ISO 27001 Certification, Cisco or others;
- Experience in legal project management and implementation of legal tech tools
- Knowledge of data privacy and cybersecurity laws, crypto processing, and financial transactions
- Experience with compliance frameworks such as GDPR, AML, DORA, ISO standards
- Familiarity with cross-border transactions, CFC rules, Transfer Pricing, OECD guidelines
- Prior experience as in-house counsel role
