Job Description

About the Role:

At DCS, safety isn’t a box to check, it’s a core part of how we operate. As a Safety Coordinator, you’ll serve as a key safety partner both on-site and behind the scenes, helping ensure our teams, contractors, and installation partners return home safely every day.

Reporting to the Safety Director, you’ll work closely with Project Managers, Site Managers, customers, subcontractors, and fellow Safety team members to support the successful execution of complex material handling and automation projects. You’ll help drive compliance with customer safety requirements, identify and mitigate risks, investigate incidents, and foster a proactive safety culture across active job sites.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being in the field, building relationships, solving problems, and influencing others through leadership and communication. Travel for this role is approximately 30%.

In This Role, You Will…

  • Partner with Project Managers, Site Managers, Engineers, Buyers, and other project stakeholders to support the safe execution of material handling and conveyor system projects.
  • Serve as the primary safety resource for assigned job sites, ensuring compliance with DCS, customer, and regulatory safety requirements.
  • Build strong working relationships with customers, subcontractors, vendors, and installation partners while promoting a culture of safety and accountability.
  • Participate in customer-specific safety programs, including STAR, Amazon BOLT, Avetta, and other site-specific initiatives.
  • Prepare and maintain safety documentation, including daily safety reports, audits, incident reports, corrective actions, and customer-required reporting.
  • Administer site-specific safety plans, conduct workplace inspections, identify hazards, and recommend corrective actions and training opportunities.
  • Coordinate and facilitate weekly safety meetings and toolbox talks with subcontractors and site personnel.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, safety concerns, ensuring timely reporting, root cause analysis, and follow-up actions.
  • Support contractor safety management, including coordination with safety consultants and collection of contractor hours for customer reporting requirements.
  • Conduct safety audits and observations to identify trends, reinforce best practices, and continuously improve site safety performance.
  • Raise concerns proactively, collaborate on solutions, and help maintain a positive and responsive safety culture across projects.

We’re Excited About You Because

  • You have experience in construction safety, site management, field operations, or a similar safety-focused role.
  • You hold, or are actively pursuing, a professional safety certification such as CHST, OHST, CSP, or equivalent.
  • You have a strong understanding of construction safety practices, hazard recognition, and risk mitigation.
  • You communicate effectively with people at all levels, from field personnel to customers and project leadership.
  • You remain calm under pressure, make sound decisions, and know how to balance safety requirements with project needs.
  • You are highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities across active job sites.
  • You have completed, or are willing to obtain within two months of hire, OSHA 30-Hour Construction Industry or OSHA 30-Hour General Industry certification.
  • You are familiar with powered industrial equipment, including forklifts, scissor lifts, and other common construction equipment.
  • You can read construction drawings and are comfortable using Microsoft Office and related project documentation tools.
  • You lead by example, take ownership of your work, and bring a collaborative, team-first mindset to everything you do.
  • You believe the safest projects are built through strong relationships, proactive communication, and continuous improvement.
