About Democracy Works
We are a nonpartisan 501©(3) nonprofit organization that helps Americans vote by providing reliable, useful guidance.
We work with election officials to give voters trusted information. We also partner with tech platforms (like Google and TikTok), nonprofits (Environmental Defense Fund, DoSomething, AARP), universities (Princeton, University of Florida), and workplaces (Starbucks, Salesforce) to help people vote.
We offer several tools: a digital platform that makes voting more accessible across all 50 states; an API providing data and guidance for thousands of elections annually; and a dataset for polling locations and ballot details. We also developed a tool for election officials to track and count mail-in ballots.
Our work focuses on producing accurate election data, giving election officials the technology they need for secure elections, and developing tools for both in-person and mail voting.
To date, we have guided 15 million voters and supported election officials at over 30,000 polling places. Our data was viewed over 500 million times in 2020. In recent years, we supported over 109,000 polling places, handled more than 3,500 elections in 2023, and sent over 60 million election notifications in 2024.
