About the Role
We are seeking an SAP BTP CAP Developer to design, build, and support cloud‑native applications on the SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP). The role focuses on developing scalable CAP‑based services, creating secure and performant enterprise APIs, integrating with SAP and non‑SAP systems, and delivering production‑ready cloud solutions aligned with architecture and delivery standards.
This position can be based in the Philippines (remote) or in Australia/New Zealand and requires working Australian and New Zealand business hours.
Your tasks and responsibilities
- Design and develop SAP CAP services (Node.js/Java), including CDS data models, service definitions, and custom business logic.
- Build and expose OData/REST APIs with strong documentation, performance optimisation, and version control.
- Develop persistence layers using SAP HANA Cloud and/or SAP Datasphere, including schema migration management.
- Implement authentication and authorisation (XSUAA/IAS) and secure service‑to‑service communication.
- Integrate CAP services with SAP S/4HANA, SuccessFactors, Ariba, Salesforce, and other enterprise platforms using SAP Integration Suite.
- Configure CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, code quality checks, and security scanning.
- Troubleshoot issues, resolve defects, and perform performance tuning across dev/test/prod environments.
- Collaborate with architects, UX teams, integration teams, and functional stakeholders on estimates, sprint planning, and documentation.
Your qualifications and experience
- Hands‑on experience developing SAP CAP applications (CDS, services, event handlers) using Node.js and/or Java.
- Strong programming skills in JavaScript/TypeScript (Node.js) or Java with enterprise‑grade API development experience.
- Experience working with SAP BTP services including Cloud Foundry/Kyma, SAP HANA Cloud, XSUAA, Destination Service, and Connectivity Service.
- Solid understanding of OData (v2/v4), REST API principles, and eventing/messaging concepts.
- Experience with Git, code reviews, unit and integration testing, and CI/CD delivery practices.
- Understanding of cloud security (OAuth2, JWT, role collections) and cloud operations/logging.
- 3+ years of software development experience, with 1–3+ years building solutions on SAP BTP and/or CAP (depending on seniority).
- Demonstrated agile delivery experience in Scrum or Kanban environments.
- Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- Nice to have: experience with SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud, including consuming released (whitelisted) Public Cloud APIs and configuring the required communication arrangements.
