About ELEGEN
Elegen was founded in 2017 in San Carlos, CA. We work in biotechnology, combining synthetic biology, DNA synthesis, microfluidics, hardware, engineering, organic chemistry, and molecular biology. We develop technologies for DNA writing.
Our main product, ENFINIA™ DNA Synthesis, is a cell-free platform that produces DNA sequences up to 7 kb with error rates as low as 1:70,000/bp. We manufacture our products in the USA, verify them with NGS, and ship globally. Our patented ENFINIA™ DNA platform uses microfluidics, AI, and robotics to deliver long, high-quality, high-complexity DNA.
The ENFINIA GEN II Production Platform offers high-throughput DNA production for as little as $0.07/bp. It uses less space and generates less waste than cell-based cloning methods. Our technology helps accelerate mRNA therapeutics development and cell-free protein synthesis.
We are also developing the GEN II oligosynthesizer, planned for 2026. This will be a directed-split-pool microfluidic synthesizer with integrated cell-free cloning technology.
We aim to address bottlenecks in synthetic biology for pharmaceutical, biotechnology, agribusiness, and biomanufacturing customers. Dr. Matthew Hill is our founder and CEO. Investors include Andreessen Horowitz, 8VC, and KdT.
