We are a UK-based personal lines insurer providing car, home, and travel insurance products. Sir Peter Wood founded us in 2000. We operate under our primary brands, esure and Sheilas’ Wheels. Sheilas’ Wheels initially focused on car insurance for women, but now offers car, home, and travel insurance to everyone. We also used to have the First Alternative brand and offered pet insurance. We support over 2.5 million policies in the UK.

We began trading on the London Stock Exchange in 2013 as esureGroup plc. By March 2015, GoCompare had become part of our group, operating separately. In 2025, Ageas acquired us, including our brands.

We use industry technology, data, and insights to offer digital experiences and personalized services. Our technology stack includes cloud platforms like AWS and Azure, Terraform for Infrastructure as Code, and Kubernetes for managing infrastructure. We implement CI/CD pipelines and maintain security frameworks like ISO 27001, NIST, FCA, and PRA standards. Our AI capabilities include Natural Language Processing (NLP), large language models, and Generative AI (GenAI) services. We deploy scalable AI applications on AWS using Python and MLOps practices. Our data platforms use Databricks on AWS for self-service analytics, advanced modeling, and AI-driven decision-making. We run customer relationship management (CRM) campaigns using platforms like Braze for email and SMS. Our pricing and underwriting strategies involve risk and retail pricing concepts, model development using Radar and Emblem, and data science methods. We conduct root cause analysis on customer complaints to identify regulatory non-adherence and improve processes.
