Clean Energy Credit Union

Clean Energy Credit Union, founded by Terri Mickelsen in 2017, is a not-for-profit, tax-exempt financial cooperative, democratically owned and controlled by our members. We serve our mission and members, not stockholders.

While headquartered in Centennial, Colorado, we operate entirely online. This allows us to pass savings from reduced operating costs on to members through better loan rates.

We focus solely on customized loans that reduce the cost of clean energy products and services. These include Electric Car Loans, Solar PV Loans, Geothermal Loans, and Green Home Improvement Loans, alongside ethical savings accounts.

As a Certified B Corporation, we meet rigorous standards for social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. Every dollar deposited with us directly funds renewable energy loans. We also handle recurring accounting and electronic payments, manage the partner loan program from document verification to funding, and support general credit union operations.

Our vision is a world where everyone can participate in the clean energy movement. Our mission is to promote clean energy, environmental stewardship, and cooperative enterprises by simplifying the adoption of sustainable solutions. Our sole focus is accessible, mission-driven clean energy financing.

We operate with a team of 11-50 employees. Our team and volunteer leadership are passionate about promoting clean energy, protecting the environment, and improving the economy. As a Certified B Corporation, our culture is rooted in a commitment to people, planet, and purpose. We are a female-led organization dedicated to maintaining and improving a diverse, inclusive, and friendly workplace. Currently, 45% of our team identifies as BIPOC and 61% as female.

Our staff and volunteer Board of Directors have extensive expertise in both finance and renewable energy technology. We value diverse backgrounds and perspectives, believing a varied team helps us achieve our vision of a world where everyone participates in clean energy. While we serve members through an online-only platform, our work environment promotes flexibility.
