ABOUT THE ROLE
We are establishing a licensed travel agency operation in Turkey with an online distribution model (OTA). This role is the statutory Responsible Manager (Sorumlu Müdür) required under Turkish travel agency regulations and will oversee compliant execution of travel agency activities, operational readiness, and liaison with relevant authorities/bodies.
Key responsibilities
- Act as the legally designated Responsible Manager for the travel agency’s head office (and support branch compliance if/when opened).
- Ensure ongoing compliance with applicable travel agency legislation, TÜRSAB requirements, and Ministry expectations (documentation, inspections, suitability standards).
- Own operational governance for OTA activities: supplier contracting controls, booking flows, customer communications, cancellations/refunds policy execution, complaint handling, and record-keeping.
- Serve as the primary contact for licensing-related correspondence and compliance checks; coordinate responses and evidence packs.
- Maintain required staffing/role readiness as applicable (e.g., ensuring mandated functions are covered in operations).
- Implement and maintain SOPs for consumer-facing travel sales: confirmations, vouchers, itinerary documentation, supplier terms, and service recovery.
- Support audits/inspections: maintain “inspection-ready” office/records and ensure the business continuously meets required qualifications.
ABOUT YOU
Candidates must meet the statutory criteria for Responsible Manager, including:
- Legally authorized to work in Turkey (valid work permit)
- Minimum high school graduate (or equivalent)
- Holds Enformasyon Memurluğu Belgesi and Enformasyon Memuru Yabancı Dil Başarı Belgesi OR holds a professional tourist guide badge (kokart)
- Minimum 2 years employment experience in a travel agency role related to travel agency activities
- Able to satisfy the “fitness” conditions aligned to travel agency ownership/management (e.g., relevant clean criminal record status, not bankrupt, etc.)
Preferred qualifications (nice to have)
- Experience in OTA / e-commerce travel operations (flights/hotels/experiences), channel management, and customer service operations.
- Familiarity with Turkish tourism ecosystem, supplier contracting norms, and compliance culture.
- Working knowledge of GDS / bedbanks / tour inventory platforms.
- Strong English (and/or one of the commonly recognized languages in the framework: English/French/German/Italian/Arabic).
