Manager Supervisor Tech Advisory

💰 $71k-$125k

Job Description

Overview

FleishmanHillard is the world’s most complete global communications firm, specializing in public relations, public affairs, marketing, paid media, and transmedia and social content. FleishmanHillard delivers on The power of true, reflecting the firm’s high values and unique ability to guide clients through a world demanding unprecedented authenticity and transparency.

The San Francisco office has an immediate opening for a Managing Supervisor to join us in a hybrid role in our rapidly expanding technology advisory practice. This position is ideal for a big-picture thinker who is energized by helping enterprise technology companies differentiate not just through product hype, but through authentic storytelling that builds belief with key stakeholder audiences: investors, employees, policymakers, talent markets, and society.

This is a job for someone who understands the critical gap in how tech companies operate today—they have masterfully built go-to-market strategies for enterprise buyers while not neglecting the harder strategic work of bringing other stakeholders along on a coherent narrative about what their innovations mean and why it matters. This role will help reposition clients as strategic leaders rather than product vendors, by developing and executing media-first but not media-only communications programs. This is advisory work more than a traditional “tech PR” role. The right candidate will help redefine how tech companies lead in an era when technical capability alone no longer builds belief.

FleishmanHillard values the importance of impact and inclusion to strengthen the bonds between us, grow our people and create spaces for everyone to thrive. We stay true to our commitment to our people and the communities in which we live and work. As part of our ongoing effort to be the world’s most inclusive agency, we are committed to seeking candidates who possess and demonstrate a profound interest in furthering our impact and inclusion goals.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with senior leadership to develop and execute strategic communications strategies for enterprise technology clients, helping them build stakeholder confidence, differentiate competitively, and execute business strategy effectively.
  • Lead and manage media relationship building efforts, establishing strong connections with journalists across technology and business media while developing your team’s media relations capabilities.
  • Collaborate with senior strategists and lead your team of account managers to develop integrated strategic positioning that goes beyond product messaging to build authentic corporate narratives that resonate with investors, employees, policymakers, and society.
  • Manage key client relationships, challenging assumptions, synthesizing market research and stakeholder insights, and guiding clients toward effective strategies. Mentor team members in strategic thinking and client management while ensuring successful campaign execution.
  • Develop strategic messaging frameworks and storytelling approaches that translate complex technical innovation into clear, differentiated positioning for multiple stakeholder audiences—helping clients understand and communicate the “why” behind their strategy with integrity and clarity.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to recommend and execute integrated communications solutions—traditional PR, digital, social media, investor relations, employee communications, and more—that align behind a cohesive strategic narrative.
  • Analyze market trends and competitive dynamics to identify positioning opportunities; help clients understand their competitive landscape and develop proactive communications strategies to address challenges and build market advantage.
  • Identify account growth and expansion opportunities by taking a strategic view of client stakeholder landscapes and recommending how integrated communications can strengthen relationships and business outcomes—from M&A support to talent acquisition to investor confidence to regulatory navigation.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop direct reports through coaching, feedback, and professional development. Foster a high-performing team that maintains quality standards and meets deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • 6-8+ years of PR or communications agency experience with broad technology and business understanding, strong analytical abilities, and demonstrated creative and critical thinking.
  • Strong passion for media relations with a proven track record of building meaningful relationships with journalists across enterprise tech, business, and trade media. Demonstrated success in securing impactful media placements and understanding how to work with reporters to shape effective narratives.
  • Solid experience across multiple dimensions of modern communications. Understanding of how integrated campaigns drive consistent results beyond just headlines. Experience creating and executing communications campaigns that drive to a consistent takeaway across owned, earned, social, and paid amplification channels.
  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills, including team coordination, managing direct reports, project management, and maintaining quality and composure under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to leverage data and research to inform strategic decisions. Experience working with research and insights teams to interpret data, trends, and metrics that inform client strategy, stakeholder engagement priorities, and communications recommendations grounded in evidence.
  • Polished written and verbal communication skills with ability to develop strategic plans, client presentations, talking points, and executive communications. Comfortable presenting recommendations and winning internal and client support for strategic direction.
  • Self-motivated strategic thinker and resourceful problem solver. Balances attention to both client relationships and strategic opportunity identification.
