GHJ Search and Staffing serves as the recruitment division of GHJ, a prominent national accounting and advisory firm. Our team provides qualified Accounting and Finance professionals on a temporary and permanent basis across a broad range of industries. GHJ’s relationship with our Global Advisory and Accounting Network provides the resources needed to better understand client’s needs, attract a higher caliber of candidates and assess candidate potential.
An industrial real estate development and acquisition firm is seeking a Controller to lead their accounting operations. The Controller will report to the CFO and will oversee a 5+ person accounting team managing full-cycle accounting for a multi-entity, multi-state portfolio.
Responsibilities:
- Lead all accounting operations including month-end close, financial reporting, consolidations, and internal controls
- Oversee GAAP compliance including revenue recognition and lease accounting standards
- Direct annual audit process and coordinate with external auditors, internal auditors, and tax advisors
- Manage quarterly consolidation reporting to parent company and recurring cash reporting requirements
- Supervise and develop the accounting team
- Review trial balances, income statements, budget variances, AP/AR, and bank reconciliations
- Oversee development and construction accounting including loan draws and cost projections
- Monitor deferred rent schedules, depreciation/amortization, aged receivables, and JV reporting packages
- Manage multiple bank accounts, cash balances, equity requests, and integrated payables processes
- Oversee entity setup/dissolution and acquisition/disposition prorations
- Own and optimize Yardi
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance required; CPA or MBA preferred
- 10+ years progressive accounting experience with required real estate background
- Strong GAAP knowledge and internal controls experience
- Prior team leadership experience
- Yardi experience highly preferred
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills

$160,000 - $170,000 a year
