At The Hopkins Centre, our researchers focus on topics of relevance to people with brain injury, spinal cord injury, amputation, persistent pain and other chronic disabling conditions that have lifelong implications for individuals, their families and support services. The Hopkins Centre is leading the way in interdisciplinary applied research that examines disability and rehabilitation practices, services and systems. It provides a vehicle for driving improvements in service delivery by facilitating research that is embedded in practice.

Metro South Hospital and Health Service and Griffith University have a strong history of collaboration on recovery, rehabilitation & resilience research and service development under The Hopkins Centre. This collaboration has an interest in developing and conducting research of relevance of rehabilitation across complex environments.

Job Description

We’re looking for a Research Support Officer to join The Hopkins Centre’s dynamic research support team at Griffith University’s Nathan campus in Brisbane, Australia. In this role, you will provide comprehensive research support services that contribute to the effective and efficient operation of our research activities. As a valued member of our Research Support Team, you will operate as a shared resource and be responsible for the day-to-day administrative operations of The Hopkins Centre and supporting other research related tasks.

The successful candidate will deliver high-level administrative and operational research support to researchers and research leaders and coordinate administrative and project support across diverse research activities, including event management, HR and finance, website support, meetings support and publications.

Key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Assist with research reporting requirements, including milestone tracking, budget correspondence, and project-related documentation with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Coordinate administrative and project support across diverse research activities, including meetings support, expertise coordination, external engagement, and event management
  • Assist with research budgets, accounts, and human resources processes associated with active research projects.
  • Prepare, analyse, and interpret data and reports to track research performance metrics, including publications for The Hopkins Centre’s funding body reporting requirements.
  • Support and promote strategic research programs by coordinating events, assisting with research web content and collaborating with colleagues on research translation and communication activities.
  • Communicate effectively with researchers, stakeholders, and external partners, providing responsive and customer-focused support
  • Maintain organized systems and documentation to ensure efficient workflow and easy information retrieval across research operations

This is a part time (60-80%), fixed term position until 31st December 2026 (with possibility of extension) based at The Hopkins Centre office at Griffith University, Nathan campus.  As Griffith is a multi-campus University you may be required to work across other campus locations and project offices. Griffith University’s campuses are located on the lands of the Yugarabul, Yuggera, Jagera, Turrbal, Yugambeh and Kombumerri peoples.

Salary range

The full-time base salary for a HEW Level 5 is in the range $82,415 - $92,456 per annum (pro-rata for part-time), plus 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $96,426 - $108,174 per annum.

Qualifications

The occupant of this position will hold a minimum of an associate diploma qualification and at least two years relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant skills, knowledge and experience.

Experience in a university or research-intensive organisation, and/or experience with human resources processes and finance systems, will be highly regarded.
