About Hillel International
We are a non-profit organization founded in 1923. We work with Jewish college students at approximately 850-1,000 colleges and universities across the United States, Canada, and 16 other countries, reaching nearly 200,000 students annually.
We give students opportunities to meet friends, explore Jewish interests, celebrate holidays, and participate in activities like Shabbat gatherings and study groups. We offer resources like a College Guide to help students with college decisions. Our Campus for All initiative helps students identify and report antisemitism, understand their rights, and get information about Israel. Our programs include immersive experiences such as Birthright Israel and Immersive Breaks, as well as the Israel Fellows Program. For Jewish graduates, we provide professional networking, mentoring, and career opportunities. Our work focuses on engagement, pluralism, Jewish education, and community within the non-profit sector.
Mission & Values
Our mission is to enrich the lives of Jewish students so that they may enrich the Jewish people and the world. We envision a world where every student is inspired to make a lasting commitment to Jewish life, learning, and Israel. We operate under the founding philosophy that there is not one way to be Jewish, welcoming all forms of Jewish identity expression.
Our core values guide our work: Bβtzelem Elohim (In the Divine Image) welcomes every student and honors their unique Jewish journeys; Chavruta (Relationships) states that authentic relationships are the foundation for growth and community; Kehillah (Community) commits us to creating diverse, supportive, and lasting Jewish communities; Ahavat Am Yisrael/Ahavat HaBeriyot (Love of the Jewish People/Love of All Humanity) informs our dedication to both the Jewish community and global citizenship; and Torat Chayim (A Living Torah) signifies a commitment to learning, tradition, and agility in adapting to students’ evolving experiences.

We employ approximately 1,200 professionals worldwide. We are committed to pluralistic Jewish life on campus. We foster a diverse workforce and uphold the value of inclusivity.
