✨The core mission of the Security Operations Lead
The Security Operations Lead is responsible for establishing, operating, and continuously improving Hack The Box’s core security operations functions. This role ensures strong detection, efficient incident response, and full visibility across critical systems while safeguarding infrastructure through effective vulnerability, configuration, and access governance. The mission is to build a resilient security operations foundation that supports audit readiness and strengthens our overall security posture.
Please note that this is an Individual Contributor role for now, with the potential to grow into team leadership over time. The ‘Lead’ title reflects the need for someone who can spearhead our security operations and act as the primary point of contact for all matters related to the organization’s security posture.

- Location: Athens, Greece
- Hybrid: 2 days in the office, 3 days remote, plus one month of work from anywhere
- Full-time role
🍺 The fellowship you’ll be joining:
Reporting to the VP of Infrastructure, you’ll work closely with our Security Engineering team, SRE, IT, and the Compliance department to ensure security controls are implemented effectively across the organization. Collaboration with cross-functional engineering and product teams is essential for hardening, remediation, and operational improvements. You’ll also support compliance teams with evidence, reporting, and audit preparation.

Monitor alerts and manage incident response workflows
Lead vulnerability management activities, including scanning, triage, and remediation follow-up
Ensure configuration hardening, patching standards, and logging coverage across critical assets
Oversee identity and access governance, including periodic access reviews and privilege validation
Prepare and maintain operational evidence for ISO/SOC audits and compliance needs
Collaborate with IT, Engineering, and SRE on remediation, hardening, and operational improvements
🏆 Skills, knowledge, and experience points required to unlock the role:
- Proven experience in Security Operations, including incident response and continuous monitoring
- Strong expertise in vulnerability management, configuration baselines, and patch compliance
- Solid understanding of IAM principles, privilege reviews, and least-privilege enforcement
- Hands-on exposure to cloud security (AWS, GCP) and infrastructure environments (Linux/Windows)
- Familiarity with ISO 27001, SOC 2, NIST CSF, and CIS benchmarks
- Ability to prepare and maintain audit-ready evidence and operational documentation
- A structured, calm, and ownership-driven approach to security operations within fast-paced environments
