Job description
Who are Heidi?
Heidi is building an AI Care Partner that supports clinicians every step of the way, from documentation to delivery of care.
We exist to double healthcare’s capacity while keeping care deeply human. In 18 months, Heidi has returned more than 18 million hours to clinicians and supported over 73 million patient visits.
Today, more than two million patient visits each week are powered by Heidi across 116 countries and over 110 languages.
Founded by clinicians, Heidi brings together clinicians, engineers, designers, scientists, creatives, and mathematicians, working with a shared purpose: to strengthen the human connection at the heart of healthcare.
Backed by nearly $100 million in total funding, Heidi is expanding across the USA, UK, Canada, and Europe, partnering with major health systems including the NHS, Beth Israel Lahey Health, MaineGeneral, and Monash Health, among others.
We move quickly where it matters and stay grounded in what’s proven, shaping healthcare’s next era. Ready for the challenge?
The QA Internship Program
Our QA Internship is designed for curious, detail-oriented individuals who want to learn how real-world software is tested, validated, and released.
Initially, the focus of this internship is on manual testing and ensuring feature quality in production. You will work closely with engineers and product managers to identify edge cases, think critically about how features behave, and ensure that releases are stable and reliable.
Over time, as you gain experience and confidence, you may have opportunities to explore test automation and contribute to automating our QA processes.
You will be embedded directly within an engineering team and contribute to testing real product features used in production every day.
What you’ll do
Test product features manually before they are released to production
Think critically about product behaviour, identifying potential edge cases and failure scenarios
Design and execute test scenarios based on requirements, even when they are incomplete
Identify risks and bugs early, helping prevent issues from reaching production
Collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, and designers during feature development
Support feature releases, ensuring stability and confidence in production
Continuously develop QA skills, with potential to explore test automation in later stages
What we’re looking for
Currently studying or recently graduated in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
Solid understanding of basic software and testing concepts
Strong interest in quality assurance and product behaviour, not just “checking requirements”
Curiosity and critical thinking — enjoyment in asking “what if?” and exploring edge cases
Ability to reason about feature failures and misuse
Clear communication skills and ability to explain issues logically
Proactive attitude and eagerness to learn
Interest in building reliable, user-safe software in healthcare
Note: Prior experience with test automation is not required, but openness to learning it later is valued.
Why you’ll flourish at Heidi
Real product impact: Test features that directly affect clinicians and patients
Strong mentorship: Learn from experienced engineers and QA practitioners
Hands-on learning: Develop practical QA skills applicable to real-world systems
Flexible environment: Hybrid and remote-friendly working arrangements
Career growth: High-performing interns may be considered for graduate or full-time roles
Purpose-driven team: Work with people who care deeply about quality and impact
Our Interview Process
Application Review — Review of expression of interest and background
Take-Home QA Assessment — Reasoning-based exercise focusing on QA mindset, edge case thinking, and writing testable acceptance criteria (manual testing focus, no automation required)
Final Interview — Discussion with the hiring manager to review the assessment, explore thinking and reasoning, and discuss how you approach ambiguous product requirements
