QA Engineer

Job description

HyperHug is an international game development studio specializing in the shooter genre. Our main office is based in Cyprus, but our talented team works remotely from around the world. We’re developing Oxide: Survival Island, an immersive multiplayer survival shooter for mobile platforms, and we’re always looking for motivated individuals who want to grow with us, contribute their creativity, and help shape the future of our games.

We are looking for a QA Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development and evolution of our flagman game, Oxide: Survival Island.

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and stability of the game across all stages of development — from testing new features and gameplay mechanics to regression and release validation. If you enjoy working closely with developers, have a strong eye for detail, and are passionate about survival games, we’d love to hear from you.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Full-cycle manual testing of a mobile free-to-play project: testing new features and mechanics, regression testing, and acceptance testing.

  • Creating, maintaining, and updating test documentation (test cases, checklists).

  • Reporting and documenting found issues and preparing test reports.

  • Close collaboration with the development team.

  • Monitoring build stability and overall product quality.

What We Expect From You:

  • 2–5 years of experience in testing mobile games on Android and/or iOS, with a solid understanding of the full release cycle and QA processes.

  • Understanding of sandbox / survival game specifics: open world, crafting & loot systems, PvP/PvE mechanics.

  • Knowledge of client-server architecture and experience testing online/network gameplay.

  • Practical experience with QA tools and workflows:

    • bug tracking and test management systems (Jira, TestRail);

    • analytics platforms (Firebase, AppMetrica, GameAnalytics);

    • emulators (Bluestacks, Nox, etc.);

    • CI/CD systems (GitLab, TeamCity).

  • Experience working with development and debugging tools, including Android Studio, adb, logcat, Xcode, and Unity (basic navigation, assets, and component logic).

  • Familiarity with network traffic analysis tools (Charles, Fiddler, Wireshark) and version control systems (Git: pull, fetch, log).

  • Strong communication skills, ability to work in a multitasking environment, prioritize tasks effectively, and maintain a high level of attention to detail.

  • Russian language proficiency at C1 level or higher.

Bonus If You Have:

  • Passion for hardcore and survival games; hands-on experience with games like RUST, ARK, DayZ, or similar titles.

  • Experience in test automation for Unity-based mobile games and knowledge of programming languages (C#, Python).

  • Experience working with integrations (Firebase).

  • Experience working with JSON files.

  • Experience working with AI tools.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive salary.

  • Flexible work environment — work from our office in Cyprus or remotely.

  • Relocation support to Cyprus, including visa and housing assistance.

  • Monthly lunch allowances via Wolt.

  • Comprehensive medical insurance.

  • Car rental.

  • A passionate and supportive team that values creativity and ownership.

  • Opportunities for professional growth.

  • A culture built on initiative, transparency, and collaboration.
