Building mentoring relationships to help students graduate high school, succeed in college, and achieve ambitions.

About iMentor

Founded in 1999, we build mentoring relationships that help students graduate high school, succeed in college, and achieve their ambitions. We partner with public high schools to match every 11th and 12th-grade student with a college-educated mentor, who guides them on their college journey. We operate in New York City, Baltimore, Chicago, and the San Francisco Bay Area.

Since our founding, we’ve connected over 30,000 students with mentors. 74% of our students enroll in college, compared to 54% of similar students nationally.

Beyond direct school partnerships, we also give nonprofit partners tools—a technology platform, a research-based curriculum, and program analysis tools—to run their own effective mentoring programs. Our funders include the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Lumina Foundation, the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation, and the Robin Hood Foundation. We are also a subgrantee of the federal Social Innovation Fund.
