This is a hybrid role. Office attendance is required at least twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays for collaboration and connection. There may be additional in-office days for team or company events.
UX Research Intern @ Ironclad
As a Product Research Intern at Ironclad, You’ll be building a platform that lets legal teams scale themselves and their businesses 100x more effectively, bringing a two‑thousand‑year‑old profession into the digital age. You’ll be focused on high impact research—not only will you be able to run studies, you’ll also be learning how to translate insights into product decisions.
We are seeking a UX Research Intern eager to drive impact and ship projects that benefit the organization and our users. You will integrate into design teams—spanning areas like AI, Workflow, or Platform—and deliver projects that support enterprise customers globally.
The internship is designed for someone who wants to understand how research operates at a systems level and learn how research creates impact.

What you’ll do
Help design and build a centralized research repository
Organize past studies, insights, and artifacts into a searchable structure
Develop tagging systems and taxonomy of frameworks
Improve discoverability and reusability of research knowledge
Create and standardize research templates
Build reusable templates for surveys, usability testing, interview guides, and reporting structures
Document research workflows and best practices
Collaborate with mentors and teammates to break down ambiguous problems into clear, scoped projects you can execute on during the internship.
Work across the stack (frontend, backend, or services) depending on team needs and your interests, with guidance from your mentor and manager.
Instrument and monitor your work in production, using metrics and logs to understand impact and reliability, and help debug issues when they arise.
Contribute to team culture, documentation, and best practices so future interns and engineers can build on what you’ve shipped.
Who you are
Interest in UX research
Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or equivalent degree in Social Sciences, Computer Science, Design, or a related technical field, with an expected graduation date after the internship term.
Demonstrated experience through projects, internships, hackathons, or open‑source contributions where you used user research to influence decision-making.
Strong problem‑solving skills and synthesis skills — you break down ambiguous problems, ask thoughtful questions, and move ideas forward collaboratively.
Clear, kind communicator who enjoys working in cross‑functional teams and can explain translate concepts for stakeholders.
Excited to learn about contracts, legal workflows, and AI‑powered productivity tools, even if you don’t have prior domain experience.

Internship details
Format: Full‑time, 40 hours/week.
Duration: ~12 weeks (summer), with flexibility based on academic calendar.
Location: San Francisco OR New York depending on team needs and candidate location.
Mentorship: You’ll be paired with a research mentor and have regular 1:1s with your manager, as well as access to intern programming, tech talks, and networking with leaders across EPD (Engineering, Product, Design).

Base Salary Range: $50/hr
The base salary range represents the minimum and maximum of the salary range for this position based at our San Francisco headquarters. The actual base salary offered for this position will depend on numerous factors, including individual proficiency, anticipated performance, and the location of the selected candidate.
