About Kahoot!
We founded Kahoot! in 2012 (Morten Versvik, Johan Brand, and Jamie Brooker). Our game-based learning platform opened to the public in 2013, letting users create, share, and host interactive learning sessions. These sessions can be used anywhere, in person or online, on any internet-connected device.
We are used by over 8 million K-12 and higher education educators, and hundreds of millions of students. 97% of the global top 500 universities use our platform. For businesses, millions of professionals use Kahoot! 360 for training, presentations, events, and communication, including 97% of Fortune 500 companies. The Kahoot! 360 Engage app is designed for self-paced and instructor-led training, especially for non-desk workers. Each year, we reach over 1 billion players, with more than 12 billion total participants since our launch. Users can access millions of existing games and a library of premium ready-made content. Content creators can also sell their learning content on our platform.
The Kahoot! Group also offers other learning solutions, including Clever for digital learning in schools. We also have math learning apps (DragonBox), reading apps (Poio), language learning apps (LingApps, Drops), and the Whiteboard.fi digital whiteboard. For employee engagement and learning, we offer the Actimo and Motimate platforms. Since January 2024, the Kahoot! Group has been owned by Goldman Sachs Asset Management, General Atlantic, KIRKBI INVEST A/S, and the Kahoot! team.
