About Lambda Legal
We are a national organization founded in 1973 to secure civil rights for lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgender people, and people with HIV. We achieve this through lawsuits, public education, and policy advocacy.
With offices in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Dallas, Atlanta, and Washington, D.C., we handle over 60 cases at once. Our work addresses issues like marriage, parenting, employment discrimination, HIV, health care, transgender rights, and youth issues. We also advocate for fair courts. Our specific focus areas include Employment, Fair Courts, Family Protection, Health Care, HIV, Immigration, Police Misconduct & Criminal Justice, Religious Exemptions, Seniors, Students’ Rights, Transgender & Nonbinary Rights, and Youth.
In our 50-year history, we have won important civil rights cases, including our right to incorporate and the country’s first HIV discrimination lawsuit.
