About Prison Fellowship

We are a national Christian nonprofit organization, founded in 1976 by Charles Colson. We serve incarcerated and formerly incarcerated people and their families, advocating for justice and human dignity.

We equip the Church to engage with individuals impacted by incarceration. Our work involves:

  • Facilitating transformation within prisons
  • Helping wardens adjust prison culture
  • Ministering to families of those incarcerated
  • Promoting laws that support human dignity and second chances

Our programs include Angel Tree, which serves children of incarcerated parents and offers Angel Tree Camps. We also provide in-prison programming like the Academy curriculum, advocate for criminal justice reform, mobilize churches, and offer reentry support for individuals returning to their communities. We also manage Storehouse orders and produce Inside Journal.

Mission & Values

Our mission is to encounter Jesus with those in prison, believing that no life is beyond His reach. We believe God can use those behind bars to bring justice, mercy, and hope. We equip Christians to serve incarcerated people and their families, and to advocate for justice and human dignity.

Our operations are guided by Christian values. We require staff to maintain an active personal faith, uphold ethical standards, and align with our Christian mission through prayer and action.
